Tom Brady had less than 150 yards, a pick, and fourteen completed passes in his last meeting with the Ravens. No one should believe that the Pats won that game, but, after a missed field goal, the Ravens blew it once again. This is not a do or die game for either team. Both will make the playoffs, but it is a game about pride. Those are the games Belichick thrives on and Brady dominates in.
Baltimore is still considered the best in the NFL by many. Going back to my last article about these two, they have a high powered offense. And it has shown more this year than last. But one thing still holds true, Ravens wide receivers get hurt. Torrey Smith and Boldin were down for a few plays last game. They also seem to be slowing down, in a negative way.
They are dinking and dunking to Pitta when they should never pass anything less then eight yards except to Rice. Flacco is not Brady, no matter what anyone says. He cannot throw fifty times, go seventy percent, kill the clock, and win championships. But he is a very solid QB on an exceptional team. However, this game is run by Rice.
There were five times against the Eagles where the Ravens did not run, although there were less than three yards to go. This is Ray Rice’s specialty and they are underutilizing him. He is a 21st century Jerome Bettis with speed. In my opinion, the best in the business. If Rice gets 30 carries this game will be difficult.
Ridley is just as important. Brady needs to be protected. Ridley needs to have 25 carries for 100 yards. If the Pats can do this, have less than 3 sacks on Brady, and less than 5 tackles, the Pats will win this game. And win it handily. But, if they cannot, than the Patriots may be competing for the divisional championship against the Jets this year, instead of running away with it like everyone predicted in July.
If the Pats cannot win these big games, as they seem to do every year many times a year, then they are not the same team. Brady has done it without a defense, a running back, without wide receivers, and these are all in different years (last year pretty much all of it). But everyone of their opponents play them like the Super Bowl champs every game, every year, for about seven years and Brady is getting tired. The O line has to step up.
I think this will be a high scoring game because Brady is pissed about his last lose and how, as he said, he sucked in the AFC Champ game.
A few predictions:
The Pats score a TD on their first possession.
Ridley barley gets over 50 yards, unfortunately.
Welker is used more, as well as Kevin Winslow.
Brady wills them to a win 27-24, and then the Pats do not lose for a while.
