Texans face a familar foe in Week 3

The Texans are off to a great start on the season, in fact they are the only team in each of the last 3 seasons to start 2-0. However, Houston has never been able to make it to 3-0 in their franchise history. They will look to make that history on Sunday against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
Peyton Manning is 16-2 against the Houston Texans all time but all of those wins came when he was with Indianapolis. Houston is a different team now, their defense is more tenacious and create a lot more turnovers than in years past. Peyton looked like his old self, in week 1 against the Steelers, but then looked old and rusty against the Falcons last week. It will be interesting to see which Peyton shows up.
The Texans defense will be getting their first challenge all year long this Sunday and we will see what they are really made of. I don’t think Peyton will be as bad as he was last week but he won’t be as good as the first week either. He will be somewhere in between. The Broncos defense is pretty adequate but the Texans shouldn’t have any problem scoring. Especially if Arian Foster shows up and has a big day. Denver played two teams that throw the ball quite a bit in their first two games, but they did hold Micheal Turner to 42 yards on 17 carries (2.5 yards per carry).
The only way(s) the Texans lose this game is if the Broncos can stop the Texans run game. That will take away the play action pass and the Broncos will be able to send a lot of blitzes Schaub’s way. The other way would be for Peyton to just continue to have the Texans number, and pick apart the defense like he was playing Madden. I don’t see that happening because Peyton hasn’t seen the Texans’ “new” defense yet, and he hasn’t seen JJ Watt who has become an absolute monster.
Texans win this game 24-20 and become 3-0 for the first time in team history. Peyton is able to keep it close, but the Texans are just better. The defense will come up with some big stops when they need to and the offense will do just enough to win the game.
Matt Schaub: 20-35 225 yards and 2 TD’s
Arian Foster: 25 carries for 95 yards and TD
Andre Johnson: 6 catches 70 yards TD
Defense: 2 turnovers and 2 sacks
