Texans survive Peyton’s late charge and make history

After one of the craziest weekends of football in a while, the Texans themselves had to fight back against a late comeback attempt by Manning. The start of this game probably made Texans fans say, “Uh oh” after Matt Schaub was sacked in the end zone for a safety and the Denver goes down field and gets a field goal, quickly leading 5-0. However, the rest of the next 3 quarters was all Houston and they were in full control. They were swarming the Broncos receivers and giving Manning no one to throw to. Not to mention the fact that Denver had no run game going whatsoever, tallying 59 total yards on the ground. After 3 quarters it was 31-11 Texans were cruising and well on their way to their first 3-0 start in franchise history, but then came the 4th quarter and Peyton Manning.

Peyton Manning was a completely different QB in the 4th. He was making all the right decisions with that pin point accuracy that he is so famous for. All of a sudden the Texans look up and its 31-25 after Manning’s 2 4th quarter TD’s. The Broncos had their chance to really make things interesting and give Peyton the ball back with over 2 minutes left, but a clutch 3rd and 5 hook up between Schaub and Andre Johnson all but sealed the deal. Manning did get the ball back with 20 seconds left but no timeouts and after a few laterals the clock hit triple zeros and the Texans made history.

It is the first time ever in Texans history that they have started a season 3-0 and many people, if they weren’t already, are starting to whisper about the Texans being the best team in football and potential Super Bowl representatives for the AFC. I still want to see Houston play against some of the upper echelon teams in the NFL but as of right now they are the best team in the NFL. These guys are good in every facet of the game. They will be very tough to beat especially if they continue playing at this high of a level.

The Texans overcame some of their personal demons today. First was Peyton Manning who was 16-2 and had the Texans number throughout his whole career, and 2nd was the Texans inability to be fail in the clutch time yes I know they almost gave up a lead but when they were able to convert the 3rd and 5 and not give Manning the ball with over 2 minutes that is what won them the game. Texans fans have a lot to be excited about after this win.

Matt Schaub what I predicted: 20-35 225 yards and 2 TD’s
