AFC Championships Replay, Baltimore Pulls off the Win

Post Game Analysis from Sunday’s AFC Championships replay between the Baltimore Ravens and the New England Patriots. Baltimore wins, 31-30 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

  • It is difficult to face a quarterback like Tom Brady, but the defense stepped up and played well enough for the Raven’s to get a win. The secondary allowed 335 yard of passing, but only one passing TD.  The defensive line sacked Brady twice during the game, forcing Brady to think about the pressure rather than his receivers.

  • The Raven’s receivers had a great game against the Patriots.  Torrey Smith led the team with 6 receptions for 127 yards and 2 TD’s.  Flacco had a great game as well completing 28 of his 39 passes for 382 yards, and to no one’s surprise Ray Rice ran the ball effectively.  Rice had 20 carries for 101 yards and one TD.  Complements to the unsung heroes of the offensive line, Flacco wasn’t sacked at all during the game.

Special Teams

  • Sam Koch was a big part of the Raven’s win.  His two punts inside of the 20 helped out the defense put pressure on the Patriots offense.  While no explosive returns happened, the specials teams units of the Raven’s executed their jobs effectively.  Justin Tucker has played very well up to this point and has proven himself to be a “go-to” guy.
