49ers Are Coming To Town

Mark Sanchez knows he can’t turn the ball over the way he did last week.  The 49ers have one of the top defenses in the league and they’re hungry.

Coming off a loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the 49ers are motivated to get back to their winning ways.  This is gonna be a tough fought, smash mouth football game.

The Jets’ running game, which has been almost non-existent, is getting no favors by facing the stone cold San Francisco defense this week.  So far this season they’re giving up a mere 3.4 yards per attempt.  That means Sanchez and the receivers are going to be called on to open up the field, so that they can set up the run.

Ball control is going to be important throughout the game.  Jim Harbough loves ground and pound and will try to control the clock, so it’s important that the Jets avoid drives where they go three and out.

Frank Gore has gotten off to a quick start averaging 6.5 yards per carry after three games.  Before the season everyone was saying that he’s done and he’ll never be the same runner he once was.  Well that is certainly not the case.  Gore is the heart and soul of this offense right now.

The Jets surrendered 185 yards on the ground to Miami last week and in order to make sure they don’t give up a number like that again they need to do a better job of getting penetration at the line and wrapping up.

They’ll be without their star cornerback Darrelle Revis and I’m sure Alex Smith is completely fine with that.  The Jets need Kyle Wilson to step up big, especially since Smith has a number of weapons including Michael Crabtree, Mario Manningham, Randy Moss and Vernon Davis.

This battle between two hard-nosed teams is going to come down to who wins in the trenches.  Can the Jets’ offensive line handle the 49ers’ ferocious defensive line?  Will the Jets be able to get pressure on Alex Smith?

Those questions will be answered on Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.  All we know right now is that both teams’ brute force will be on full display.

Final Score: 49ers 20  Jets 14
