Raiders Get Blitzkrieged in Denver

The Oakland Raiders head into the bye week after suffering a disheartening road loss to their bitter rival, the Denver Broncos, 37-6. With the loss, the Raiders fall to 0-2 in the division after the 1st quarter of the season.
Oakland’s inefficiency on offense seems to be a permanent fixture, as last week’s performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers (a 34-31 win) was clearly a fluke.
The common theme within their first 4 games, is how they have been blitzkrieged in the third quarter, as they have now been outscored 55-7 by their opponents this season. Come on down Greg Knapp, you’ve just earned another spot in the hot seat.
What seemed like a promising offensive squad, has turned into a waste of talent, that doesn’t fit well with the offensive coordinator’s offensive scheme. Raiders quarterback, Carson Palmer threw for 202 yards, and no touchdown passes, while running back Darren McFadden had a total of 34 rushing yards. Inexcusable!
The defense held the Broncos in check for the first half, only giving up 10 points. But once your defense stays on the field long enough, your opponent will be able to make adjustments, and eventually exploit them. The Raiders gave up 338 yards passing and three touchdowns to Broncos quarterback, Peyton Manning. You expected him to have a good day against a depleted secondary, but the part that gets me, is that Oakland’s defense did not even record one sack against an immobile quarterback. Head coach Dennis Allen, and defensive coordinator Jason Tarver simply have to do better!
Sometimes you can be as optimistic as you want to be, but you just can’t deny the inevitable. Raider Nation has seen this story before, and have grown quite tired of it. I’m sure a majority of them still wish Hugh Jackson was around, because at least with him at the helm, you saw promise. Now, all you see is chaos on both sides of the ball. The bye week will allow them to get a little healthier, but don’t be surprise if that’s the only form of progress made by the Silver and Black.
