Greg Zuerlein, kicks himself into Rams and NFL history. Zuerlein kicked a 58-yard field goal, setting a franchise record for longest successful field goal attempt, late in the first quarter. The rookie kicker was not satisfied with that accomplishment. In the third quarter Zuerlein successful made a 60-yard field goal, making him the first rookie kicker to make a field goal from 60 or more yards. Zuerlein completed four field goals and one extra point, accounting for 13 of the Rams 19 points. His successful attempts, from 58 and 60-yards made him the first kicker in NFL history to make two attempts from more than 55-yards. The Rams where able to pull off a fake field goal attempt in the second quarter, which ultimately was the deciding play in their 19- 13 victory over the Seahawks.
The Rams offense struggled again this week against a very good Seattle defense, but did just enough to put their kicker in position to make big kicks. The defense of the Rams also played their part in today’s victory. Even though Marshawn Lynch ran all over them, they were able to produce three interception on Russell Wilson, helping out their offense. All three phases worked together as a single unit and produced a win. The Rams have a short work week this week, with a Thursday night football game against the Arizona Cardinals. The momentum of today’s victory should make Thursdays game a lot more competitive, appose to a loss.
