In case you didn’t know, Ryan Tannehill SHREDDED the Cardinals’ defense for a tune of 431 yards (FRANCHISE ROOKIE RECORD!!!), a TD, but he also had 3 costly turnovers.
A fumble late in the 4th quarter, which led to the Cardinals tying the game up at 21. In Overtime, he got hit as he threw, and the ball was picked off. That led to the Cardinals kicking a Field Goal to win the game. The Offensive Line was nowhere to be found on those possessions. The defenders blitzed up the middle, and Tannehill got clocked as he threw the ball or attempted to throw the ball.
Look at records he broke:
The Dolphins by all accounts should be 3-1, not 1-3. Reggie Bush said it best in this article, “We get brain freeze in the 4th quarter!” Awesome article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/sfl-reggie-bush-brain-freeze-100312,0,5170521.story. I agree. A few little things here and there have prevented them from being 3-1.
One thing though that is REIGNING TRUE: Tannehill is emerging as a FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK, and he is CONNECTING on all CYLINDERS with WR’s Brian Hartline and Devone Bess. Hartline had the GAME OF HIS LIFE: 12 catches (CAREER-HIGH), 253 yards (CAREER-HIGH AND A FRANCHISE RECORD), and a TD (80 YARDS). Bess had 7 catches for 123 yards as well.
Now Tannehill’s stats have not be great: 66.4 QB rating 31st in the NFL. 55.9 Accuracy, way below the NFL norm, and his 6 INT’s and 1 fumble have been a component to the losses. Stats came from this article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/dolphins-blog/sfl-dont-twist-my-words-on-ryan-tannehill-20121003,0,236693.story
But, you have to love his COMPOSURE, ARM, ATHLETICISM AND HIS ATTITUDE. He is so fun to watch. His MATURATION week after week, is making him into the FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK, we Dolphin fans have been longing for; since the days of Dan Marino.. He will win the close games soon. Like Bush said, it will all come together.
After last week’s game, the Miami Dolphin Nation, which I am a PROUD MEMBER of, called for WR Legedu Naanee release. Naanee really SUCKED!! He couldn’t catch ANYTHING!! He was a WASTE OF SPACE!!! Never Fear Dolphins’ Fans: GM Jeff Ireland got us someone who can catch and compliment Hartline and Bess. May I introduce to you, from the University of Florida, and former Patriot, Texan and Redskin… JABAR GAFFNEY!!! Meet Gaffney here: http://youtu.be/ObrXua2Chks
Now that is a STATEMENT MOVE!! Gaffney, who was hurt in the preseason, tried out for Miami before the season started, but his knee wasn’t completely healthy. Now, he is HEALTHY and ready to go.. Lets see DEFENSES stop this trio!!! He is 31, who had a career-high 68 catches for 947 yards along with five touchdowns last season with Washington. Stats come from this article: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/miami-dolphins/sfl-miami-dolphins-cut-naanee-sign-gaffney-2012,0,5823336.story
The 1st to try stop this trio will be the Bengals.
The Bengals are a YOUNG, QUICK, FAST-PACED, UP-TEMPO TEAM. They went to the playoffs last year with their own FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK ANDY DALTON, and SUPERSTAR WIDE-RECEIVER A.J. GREEN. This tandem is VERY HARD to defend.
Dalton has been ACCURATE MOST OF THE TIME in his SOPHOMORE SEASON. His numbers this year: 85-126 (67.5%), 1111 yards (261 yards/game), 8TD’s, 4 INT’s. Last year in his ROOKIE YEAR, he went 300-516 (58.1%), 3,398 yards, 20 TD’s, 13 INT’s. He led the Bengals to the playoffs last season. All the information about Dalton came from: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14012/andy-dalton.
He has the best passer rating of any QB in the NFL in the fourth quarter (151.7), he also hasn’t trailed at any point in his last three games according to this article found here: http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thedailydolphin/2012/10/04/thursday-talking-points-quick-strikes-a-key-for-bengals/.
Green is just an INCREDIBLE WIDE-RECEIVER as he enters his SOPHOMORE season. His numbers this year: 27 catches, 428 yards (15.9 Avg), 3 TD’s. Last year in his ROOKIE YEAR, he caught 65 balls, 1,057 yards (16.8 Avg), 7 TD’s. All the information about Green came from: http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/13983/aj-green.
This is going to be a SHOOT-OUT FOLKS!!! It is going to be a battle of which DEFENSE can stop these TWO TALENTED FRANCHISE QUARTEBACKS and their STAR WIDE-RECEIVERS.
The Dolphins’ defense over the 1st 4 games are like a well-written paper; meaning it looks good, sounds good, but still has some errors in it. The front-seven is INCREDIBLY DOMINANT against the run, but they still have MAJOR HOLES in the secondary. They are 1st AGAINST THE RUN (56.8), but the secondary and their inadequacies have caused them to be 30th (297.8). Stats provided by: http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/mia/miami-dolphins.
They have made AVERAGE QUARTERBACKS like Mark Sanchez and Kevin Kolb, look the second-coming of Joe Namath and Kurt Warner respectively.
It is HORRIBLE to watch!! Big Play after Big Play!! Miss tackles, blown coverages. This is not what Defensive Coordinator Kevin Coyle had in mind. It should be INTERESTING to see what he dials up against his former team whom he was with for 11 years.
The Bengals are pretty much MEDICORE on defense. They are 16th in the league in opponents’ passing yards (234.8), and 23rd in the league stopping the run (130.8). All stats from: http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/cin/cincinnati-bengals.
Bush, despite playing last week with his left injury, suffered a hip injury, but the good news is: he is practicing and should be able to play this week. Against this defense, he should be able to break a few runs. I think 22 carries, 100 yards, and TD sounds ABOUT RIGHT!!!
My prediction as always:
I believe we will see the Dolphins’ win that close game by forcing a TURNOVER to win the game.
Tannehill has another big game 28-40, 320 yards, 4 TD’s, 0 INT’s in the no-huddle offense. I believe his O-Line will keep him UPRIGHT the entire game. He hooks up with Hartline for 9 catches, 120 yards, 2 TD’s. I think Gaffney will make an IMPACT: 6 catches, 80 yards, TD.
Should the Dolphins’ win, they will have caught the Bengals by their toes..
