Jets Give Texans A Run For Their Money
Posted By Matt Brody On Oct 9 2012 @ 9:43 am In New York Jets | No Comments
The Houston Texans didn’t play their best game and they were still able to take care of business at MetLife Stadium.
It’s not that the Jets didn’t play well, the Texans are just a better team, plain and simple. New York had a chance in the fourth quarter, but was unable to pull off a comeback.
The final score of 23-17 is much closer than what many expected. Coming into the game some were saying that if Mark Sanchez made mistakes Tim Tebow should come in to play quarterback full time. It was even rumored that Jets’ owner Woody Johnson would possibly push the coaches towards giving Tebow more playing time.
When it was all said and done Sanchez finished with 230 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, which to his defense were both tipped. Tebow came on the field early in the game and threw a great pass down the field to Jason Hill, but the receiver dropped it. He didn’t throw another pass the rest of the night, but did run for 19 yards on five carries including a 13-yard run for a first down.
One of those tipped balls that led to an interception was deflected by defensive end J.J. Watt. He is becoming one of the top defensive players in the league and is only in his second season. Watt made it very difficult for Sanchez to find passing lanes and found a way to take the quarterback down for one sack.
As for the Jets’ defense, Antonio Cromartie did a great job shutting down Andre Johnson. He held the star wide receiver to one catch for fifteen yards and intercepted a Matt Schaub pass by stepping in front of Johnson.
Arian Foster was his usual self. He ran the ball 29 times for 152 yards and a score, while the rest of the team was held to 17 yards on the ground. The guy just knows how to get into the open field.
The Texans are now one of two undefeated teams remaining and you could make the argument that they are the best team in the NFL. Although the Jets didn’t come away with a win they played a tough game and were in it till the end.
