It’s time for the rookie phenom, and I’m not talking about Robert Griffin III, to make his Meadowlands debut.
There’s no debate who the starting quarterback is in Indianapolis. Andrew Luck has shown why he deserved to be the number one pick and proved it again last week with a come-from-behind win over the Green Bay Packers.
According to Rex Ryan there isn’t a debate over who the Jets’ starting quarterback is either. Mark Sanchez is their starter and that’s that. How long it stays that way is anybody’s guess.
Sanchez looked much looser last week than in previous games. Maybe he’s realizing that there’s nothing he can do about the Tim Tebow craze and that he just has to go along with it. Regardless, he needs to play with confidence because every possession could be his last.
The Jets’ defense did a pretty good job against a loaded Houston offense last week. On Sunday the Colts will be without starting running back Donald Brown, so they’re gonna rely heavily on the pass.
Reggie Wayne is having a resurgence this season. The 33-year-old receiver gained a career-high 212 yards last week and has great chemistry with Luck.
The key for the Jets’ defense is going to be shutting down the rookie quarterback and the Colts’ passing game. The defensive line needs to put pressure on him and get in his face. Antonio Cromartie, who did a phenomenal job last week against Andre Johnson, will also need to step up again.
Final Score: Jets 24 Colts 16
