What Concussion? RG3 Takes the Win Against Vikings!

Posted By Mercedes Green On Oct 15 2012 @ 9:27 am In Washington Redskins | No Comments

Yes, I was against RG3 playing.  I thought he needed another week to rest.  He took every test possible and was cleared to play.  And play he did.  Not only did RG3 rush for 138 yards, but he scored 2 TDs including 76 yard run, tying an NFL record for the 2nd longest TD run by a QB.  None of which were rookies BTW.  He also learned something from last week.  When pressured he threw the ball away when there was no place to run (although one did get picked off), when he did run, he went out of bounds when Vikings were on him to avoid hits and when he did get hit, he got up and was not affected.

The highlight of the game came with just under 3 minutes remaining in the game.  The Redskins had the lead, but only by 5.  RG3 sets out to run and gets room and keeps going.  As he ran he kept looking back to see who was on him and if he was going to be taken down (another lesson learned) but no one could catch him.  The Redskins and RG3 broke the home game losing streak finally after 8 straight losses.

The defense stepped up and kept the Vikings out of the end zone and only allowed FGs for the Vikings 4 times in a row.  They did not score a TD until the 4th quarter.    They kept Peterson to only 79 yards but allowed 352 passing yards.  Lorenzo Alexander also scored his own TD by catching a Ponder fumble which gave the Redskins another TD.  With only 22 seconds remaining in the game with the Viking at the 3 yard line, DeAngelo Hall intercepts Ponder’s pass and solidifies the win.

And the new kicker?  Kai Forbath made a 50 yarder.  Nice!
