The Houston Texans suffered their first loss of the season last week against the Green Bay Packers. It was an ugly game all around for the team. Arian Foster didn’t run well at all, Schaub threw 2 picks and no TD’s and the defense allowed 6 TD passes to Aaron Rodgers. This week they have to face the Baltimore Ravens who are also 5-1. Their only loss came against the Eagles and it was by one point back in week 2. However, last week Baltimore suffered a plethora of injuries. Ray Lewis tore his triceps and might be done for the season, Lardarius Webb tore his ACL, Haloti Ngata tore his MCL (he is questionable to play), and Ed Reed came out and said that he has a torn labrum. All of the injuries are on the defensive side of the football, the one thing that the Ravens have been known for over the past decade.
This game should be a nice bounce back game for the Texans. They are facing a bear up defense after getting embarrassed last week. Although Terrell Suggs is supposed to play this week I don’t think that will be nearly enough to replace what they lost in Webb and Lewis. You can’t expect Ngata to play at his normal level either with that knee injury. Texans should bounce back nicely on offense and have a solid day.
Last week I think the defense got exposed a little bit. They were facing one of the best QB’s in the league but Joe Flacco is no scrub and Ray Rice is definitely a superstar. This will be the most balanced offense the Texans have faced all year and after watching them try and defend the pass last week Joe Flacco might have a big day.
If the Texans get out front early I think they hold on to win the game but if they start out trailing like last week then they are in trouble. If they start trailing early they will have to abandon the run game and that run game really sets up their whole offense. That’s what got them in so much trouble last week.
Ultimately I think the Texans win this game just because the Ravens are so beat up on defense. I think it will be a close game but Houston squeaks it out in the end.
Texans 21 Ravens 17
Schaub 21-32 228 yards TD
Foster 28 carries 112 2 TD’s
Johnson 6 catches 80 yards TD
JJ Watt 1.5 sacks
