Tough challenge for the Rams
Posted By James Scoggins Jr. On Oct 20 2012 @ 11:56 am In St. Louis Rams | No Comments
The Rams are going up against the Green Bay Packers and a HOT Aaron Rogers. Its seems that Aaron Rogers has found his mojo after struggling early in the season. Two weeks ago I would have said the Rams have a excellent chance at winning this game, but now they have a slim chance of winning this game. That slim chance depends on how GREAT their defense plays.
The Rams are ranked 5th is passing defense, accumulating 17 sacks, pressuring the quarterback 62 times and hitting the quarterback 50. The defense has also racked up 5 interception, with one pick six and forced two fumbles, recovering one. The Rams defense is serious, but so is the Green Bay Packers D. The Packers lead the league with 21 sacks and they also have 8 interceptions. The flaw thus far in the Packer D, is that they will give up yards in the air and points. The Packers are ranked 17th in scoring defense and 18th in passing defense. In order for the Rams to win this game, their defense is going to have to pressure Rogers, similarly like the Seahawks if not more.
The offensive line struggles in Green Bay are going to give the defensive line of the Rams action. Its all about if the Rams defense takes advantage of a lackluster line in Green Bay. As good as the secondary has been playing for the Rams, I don’t think they have a chance against the loaded receiving core of the Packers. Also the lack of a receiving core of the Rams are doomed against a veteran secondary of the Packers. All and all it doesn’t look good for the Rams on Sunday. But, this is the NFL and the motto goes, “Any given Sunday.”
