Dolphins played a game of JETS’ HUNT AND SHOT THEM DOWN BIG-TIME!!!
Posted By Daniel Saviuk On Oct 28 2012 @ 10:39 pm In Miami Dolphins,NFL | 1 Comment
Words to describe the New York Jets: PATHETIC, ARROGANT, BRASH, LOUD-MOUTHED, TALKATIVE, DISRESPECTFUL.
Why does that matter? Well, the Jets TRASH-TALKED all week long and the Dolphins went into the Meadowlands and BEAT THE CRAP out of THEM to get REDEMPTION from Week 3!! 30-9!!!!!!!! Their coach, the defense (SOME GUY NAMED OLIVIER VERNON, I have WRITTEN about him before) and their backup QB took care of it.
They did it, despite losing ROOKIE PHENOM QB Ryan Tannehill to a HYPER-EXTENDED LEFT KNEE and a DEEP LEFT-THIGH BRUISE, while being sacked by LB Calvin Pace in the 1st quarter. He did not return to the game. He was 2-5, 18 yards before the injury. Here is how the injury went down: http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000086677/Week-8-Ryan-Tannehill-highlights
So, they bring in backup QB Matt Moore, who was the team’s MVP last season and was VERY EFFECTIVE: 11-19, 131 yards, TD, 0 INT’s, 96.6 QB Passer Rating. Last season, when Chad Henne got hurt, Moore came in and went 6-3 as a starter. The offensive line DIDN’T ALLOW A SACK ON MOORE!!!
Moore threw 2 passes of 30 yards or more and a beautiful TD as seen here:
1) Anthony Fasano 4 yd TD Catch here (Love the footwork): http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000086321/Anthony-Fasano-TD-catch
2) Marlon Moore’s 37 yd catch here (What a THING OF BEAUTY)http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000086243/Marlon-Moore-37-yard-catch
3) Jabar Gaffney’s 30 yd catch (1st catch as a Dolphin) here: http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000086319/Jabar-Gaffney-30-yard-catch. That setup the Thomas TD.
It was Coach Philbin who likes to say coaching schemes don’t win days. But they went a long way this day. It was the coaching schemes that led to a special-teams Triple Crown — an onside kick recovery, a blocked punt recovered for a touchdown and a blocked field-goal attempt — all in the first half. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/other/fl-hyde-miami-dolphins-1029-20121028,0,5724563.column .
The BREAKDOWN of the TRIPLE CROWN:
1) ONSIDE KICK = The Dolphins kicked a field goal on their first drive and, on the ensuing kickoff, Philbin called for the onside kick. That’s about as radical as calling for a fake punt from your own 40 when up just three points, as he did against St. Louis.
On the onside kick, Rizzi and special-teams assistant Dave Fipp noticed the first line of Jets blockers were making a fundamental mistake. They ran back too early. They left an opportunity to attack.
There was some fortune here. Dan Carpenter made a perfect bunt up the middle. Jason Trusnik , who recovered the kick, wasn’t supposed to be in that role. His role was to clear out Jets for a teammate to recover.
“The ball bounced around, it was just there for me,” Trusnik said. “I grabbed it. That’s the kind of day we had. Offense. Defense. Special teams. We all went out and played hard and won.”
2) Blocked Punt Return for a TD = Tim Tebow went left instead of right and completely missed Jimmy Wilson, who shot up the middle and blocked the punt. Olivier Vernon was right there for the EASY TOUCHDOWN.
3) The blocked FG at the end of the half: Olivier Vernon is EVERYWHERE!!! What a FIND for the Dolphins!! 1st gets his first EVER TD and then he blocks a FG of Nick Folk. That kept the Jets off the scoreboard at the half (20-0) Dolphins.
Besides Special Teams, the defense as a whole SMOTHERED and COVERED Mark Sanchez and his WIDE-RECEIVING CORPS. Sanchez was sacked 4 TIMES (Cameron Wake, Kevin Burnett, Nolan Carroll, and Jimmy Wilson). He threw an INT (Chris Clemons got it), and had a fumble (Paul Solai recovered). He threw the ball 54 times (career-high), completed 28 for 283 yards, TD, INT, FL.
I had to work today until 3 and went to Mulligans afterwards and watched from the middle of the 3rd quarter on. I loved what I saw from the defense. They nearly picked off Sanchez 3 times from what I saw. The cornerbacks in my only criticism; needs to work on CATCHING THE BALL!! Other than that, they played SUPERB!!
This whole week, all the Jets did was talk about KNOCKING OUT Reggie Bush. That didn’t happen. Bush was decent: 14 carries, 59 yards, 1 catch, 6 yards and lost a fumble. It was Daniel Thomas, who RETURNED from OBSCURITY (i.e. INJURIES) to punish the Jets by running hard up the middle. He scored a TD on their 1st drive of the 2nd half. His line: 15 carries, 42 yards, TD.
Watch the TD: http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000086204/Daniel-Thomas-TD-run
From http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012102801/2012/REG8/dolphins@jets#menu=highlights&tab=recap&recap=fullstory . This is what Bush had to say after the game: “It was very satisfying for us, as good as it gets,” Bush said. “We wanted to have the opportunity to jump on them early and we accomplished that. Once we got them down early, I thought that was it.”
Also, he said: the Jets “laid down”. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/sfl-dolphins-dominate-jets-in-309-win-but-lose-tannehill-to-injury-20121028,0,239224.story
Some Jets had these comments after the game:
“They’re not a very clean team,” wide receiver Chaz Schilens said. “They’re a little cheap.”
Cornerback Antonio Cromartie also called Bush “a punk” who showed “his true colors.”
The Jets are a bunch of WHINING, PATHETIC, BUNCH OF BABIES. I was SCREAMING in JOYS OF PROUDNESS, when late in the 4th quarter, OL Richie Incognito blew a kiss towards the Jets’ bench. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BWlk5kEvgfg/UI2cMwNArtI/AAAAAAAAB7Q/aVWFxCMRKd0/s1600/richielol.gif
How POETIC was that!!! And Mike Pouncey who engaged in war or words with DE Aaron Maybin (who did NOTHING) said it best after the game, ““Talking means nothing, as you’ve seen today,” Pouncey said with a smile. “When you play against another team that runs their mouth, we’re going to go out and play harder. That’s just part of the game.” http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/49936/is-it-time-to-think-playoffs-in-miami
Throughout the time I watched the game, my uncle who loves the Jets and thinks the Dolphins’ suck, kept TEXTING ME about how bad Miami is. I responded by saying in a nutshell, “We kicked your butt and that is all I had to say.” He is such a SORE LOSER, when the Jets lose and the Dolphins win.
Lets give PROPS to Dan Carpenter, who battled the WINDS to REDEEM HIMSELF against the Jets. He was 3 for 3 on FG’s (33, 39, 42).
It was NICE to see Hartline again (4 catches, 41 yards) and the debut of Jabar Gaffney. Gaffney had the BEAUTIFUL 30 yard catch, and he might have some NIGHTMARES after letting a ball fall off his fingertips which would have more than likely been a TD in the 4th quarterback. The game was well out of hand at the point.
Kickoff Return Specialist Marcus Thigpen had 57 yard return that helped setup the Fasano TD as seen here: http://www.nfl.com/videos/auto/0ap2000000087134/Dolphins-57-yd-kickoff-return
It was Miami’s 3rd STRAIGHT WIN (4 – 3). Hopefully Tannehill will comeback next week, but if not, Moore will be just fine. As Marlon Moore said after the game, ““We have a luxury not to have a drop-off at quarterback, no matter what happens,” “So if Tannehill goes down, we have the luxury of having another starting-caliber quarterback coming in.” http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/49936/is-it-time-to-think-playoffs-in-miami
Off to Indy, to face ANOTHER ROOKIE PHENOM Andrew Luck and the Colts.
