Josh Freeman – He has thrown for 3 TDs in 3 straight games and has a favorable matchup against Oakland this week. It is yet to see if he can sustain the level of play he has over the past few weeks, but the potential is there and he is worth a flier this week and also as a possible stash if you has question at the QB position. He is currently available in 40% of leagues.
Nick Foles – With Michael Vick on the cusp of bench surfing, owners of Vick would be wise to grab Nick Foles. The rookie showed great command of the offense during preseason and while he has not started a regular season game, he has some potential to make some noise in the Eagles’ offense. He is currently available in 99% of leagues.
Titus Young – After Nate Burleson went down last week, Young was a hot waiver pick up and this week he is red-hot. After scoring 2 TDs on 9 receptions for 100 yards, he will likely be one of the top pickups for the week. The Lions offense looked like it found itself this last week, and could have a strong second half to the season with Young taking pressure off of Calvin Johnson who is battling the Madden Curse. He is currently available in 60% of leagues.
Jonathan Dwyer – Dwyer ran hard and again topped 100 yards on the game. He is an old school power runner that has been compared to a smaller version of Jerome Bettis. When Rashard Mendenhall returns he may see a split, while some are speculating the job is his to lose as the starter after he gave life to the Steelers run game. He is currently available in 54% of leagues.
Joique Bell – Mikel LeShoure did not play in the last quarter of the game, and the Lions have said that he is not injured and it is possible they were just in comeback mode. However, there is reason for concern and if you own LeShoure, stashing Bell might be a good idea. He is currently available in 90% of leagues.
Phillip Tanner – Fragile Felix was terrible in the Cowboys loss to the Giants, and to be fair he was injured, but there are finally whispers that the Felix Jones project is over. This would mean that Phillip Tanner could move up as DeMarco Murray’s immediate backup and would be worth owning if he gets the start and Murray is out another week. Keep your ear to the ground. He is currently available in 90% of leagues.
Raise the Red Flags
With the trade rumors swirling and the deadline this week keep an eye on players like LeGarrette Blount (available in 80%), Daryl Richardson (available in 63%) ,and DeAngelo Williams (available in 42%) on the wire this week as they could each see a bump in playing time stemming from a trade. It is being reported that Blount’s contract makes him the most eligible to go while Williams’ contract may keep in him Carolina. The possible trade of Steven Jackson could greatly inflate the value of Daryl Rchardson as well. Stay tuned.
