Cavs Bring Swords to Gun Fight

Derrick Rose is out but that did not keep the Chicago Bulls from missing a beat against the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night in the Bulls 115-86 win. The Bulls were able to handle the Cavs with ease and gave a glimpse as to why they need not worry for the first part of the regular season without Mr. Rose. Derrick Rose is a key player and their best player but they need him to be healthy enough for a playoff run because the Bulls are still a good enough team to make the playoffs even with the absence of Rose. Nate Robinson was able to step up at the PG position for the Bulls tonight and may have shown a glimpse as to what they can expect and could provide stability at the position while Rose is out.

The Bulls were able to put this game out of reach with solid free throw shooting and a shooting percentage over sixty percent. The Bulls once again played their stout defense and made a living with sots inside the arc as they barely attempted double digit three pointers. As long as the Bulls are able to keep up their strong defense and consistent inside shooting without deciding to live and die by the three, because they are not a three point shooting team, the Bulls will be a tough game night in and night out.

For the Bulls this night they were led by Carlos Boozer and Richard Hamilton with 19 points and this is a trend that needs to continue in the absence of Derrick Rose if they want to contend for an upper seed in the eastern conference.  Boozer is a key player for the Bulls and he showed his talent on Friday night with a 19 point 7 rebound 6 assist effort to help lead the team to a blowout win. At the point guard position the Bulls were able to get a solid contribution from Nate Robinson who put forth a 16 point 12 assist performance to go along with 5 boards.

As a team the Bulls shot an astounding 63.8% (44-69) from the floor and 76.7% (23-30) from the free-throw line. The turnover battle did not really give the story of strong defense as the Bulls and Cavs both had seventeen in the game. The Bulls continue to impress over the past couple of seasons when they play without their superstar point guard and one-time league MVP but they know without him they are not a serious championship contender but are well capable of holding down the fort until his regular season return.
