Carmelo Anthony leads Knicks in blowout over Sixers

For the second time in three days, New York Knick fans left Madison Square Garden happy after watching their team dismantle its opponent, with the victim this time being the Philadelphia 76ers.

Similarly to Friday night, the Knicks controlled the game from the opening tip, holding off every mini-run that the Sixers made.

The difference in effort between this team and the one that was assembled at the beginning of last is incredible, and the reason for this can be found by looking no further than the head coach.

Mike Woodson has transformed the Knicks’ defensive mentality, and it showed once again tonight. They forced 18 turnovers to go along with 12 steals, while holding the Sixers to just 84 points, the same measly total that the Miami Heat had on Friday night.

The team was equally as impressive on the offensive side of the ball, shooting 51% from the field and 41% from three.

Carmelo Anthony led the squad once again, scoring 27 points on a 10 for 18 shooting performance, a far cry better than his 10 for 30 effort on Friday night.

Jason Kidd and Raymond Felton controlled the game from the point, as the two combined for 23 points and seven assists, while J.R. Smith contributed 20 points off of the bench.

The Knicks and Sixers play the second game of their home and home series tomorrow night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Tip off is schedule for 7:00 p.m.
