The Oakland Raiders limp back to the west coast after getting beat-down by the Baltimore Ravens 55-20…..SMH.
It was one of those demoralizing defeats that a rookie head coach, and a team struggling to find an identity and some consistency on both sides of the ball, will more than likely not be able to overcome to contend for the playoffs as the season progresses.
Already put in a tough spot with no Darren McFadden for Sunday’s game, Raiders’ quarterback Carson Palmer did the best he could do, throwing for 368 yards and two touchdowns, but it just wasn’t enough, as this game was decided midway through the 3rd quarter.
Defensively, head coach Dennis Allen, defensive coordinator Jason Tarver and the Raiders’ D should be ashamed of themselves. Giving up 55 points is inexcusable, no matter the situation. Even though they were playing without their defensive leader in Richard Seymour, they still had enough talent on that side of the ball to execute a better performance.
With the New Orleans Saints coming into the Black Hole next week, Allen and this Raiders team must have short term memory, and put this game out of their minds ASAP if they want to make next week’s ball game a competitive one. As for Raider Nation, I doubt anyone one of them will step out of their cubicle, or away from their desk until it’s time to go home come Monday.
