Pistons actually win a game

After a horrific 0-8 start to the season, the Detroit Pistons go out and roll over the Philadelphia 76ers by the score of 94-76.

The game was dominated by Pistons center Greg Monroe, who put a monster stat line with 19 points and 18 rebounds while dishing out six dimes. The Pistons dominated on the glass, large in part to the effort Monroe put up, against the 76ers as the Pistons grabbed 19 more rebounds than the 76ers. Power forward Jason Maxiell put up big numbers on the board with 12 rebounds of his own while scoring eight points and swatting three shots.  Brandon Knight put up an impressive stat line of his own with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. The Pistons need more games like this from the second year guard if they want to dig themselves from this early hole they are in.

Rookie small forward Kyle Singler started for the Pistons this game after Rodney Stuckey suffered flu-like symptoms and he had a great game with 16 points. Andre Drummond got into early foul trouble  and posted six points and two rebounds. Kim English and Khris Middleton posted one minute of game time each.

The 76ers are certainly missing the presence of Andrew Bynum, who is slated to come back to the team no time soon. They seemed pretty desperate given the fact Kwame Brown was the starter at center today. The only considerable stat lines came from Jrue Holiday (12 points, seven assists, six rebounds) and backup power forward LaVoy Allen (14 points, six rebounds).

With the way the team played today, I think the Pistons should give some time off to Stuckey, who has struggled right out of the gate and continue to start Singler. It’s also essential to continually ease Andre Drummond into a heavier workload. Drummond has demonstrated the ability to perform with the time he is given and I think it’s time to reward him.

The Pistons look to capture their second win on Friday against Glen Davis and the Orlando Magic at 7:30 ET.
