Clippers Dominate Heat for 4th Straight Win

Sure seems like the L.A. Clippers are making it look rather easy these days.

Los Angeles cruised to its fourth consecutive win Wednesday night, defeating the defending-champion Miami Heat, 107-100, in a game that wasn’t nearly as close as the final score indicates.

Jamal Crawford (yet again) led the Clippers with 22 points 0ff-the-bench, repeatedly dazzling the Staples Center crowd with an array of one-on-one moves that left hapless Miami defenders in his dust as he poured in bucket-after-bucket.

Neither team led by more than six points at any point in the first half, but that all changed once the third quarter began.

Chris Paul (16 points, 10 assists) and Blake Griffin (20 points, 14 rebounds) recorded double-doubles as the Clips blitzed the Heat coming out of halftime, outscoring Miami 33-20 in the frame. They never looked back.

Paul himself was the primary reason for the Clippers’ game-deciding surge in the period, reeling off 13 consecutive points of his own to effectively put a stake in the Heat. Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole had no prayer of staying in front of him, as CP3 could seemingly get whatever shot he desired.

LeBron James led the Heat with a stellar, 30-point, seven-assist, five-rebound effort, but got very little support.

Dwyane Wade was hobbled by a sprained left foot, and it showed. The All-Star guard was limited to just six points on 2-10 shooting in 29 minutes.

Chris Bosh wasn’t much better, as he contributed just 11 points and nine rebounds on miserable 3-13 shooting from the floor.

Miami’s bench unit was arguably more effective than the starting group, sans James. New additions Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis combined to score 25 points, hitting four three-pointers between them.

Once again, the depth of the Clippers proved highly beneficial, as, along with the aforementioned Crawford, they also got 12 from Eric Bledsoe, including the team’s first eight points of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to 93-76.

Caron Butler (15 points) was the only other Clipper to score in double-figures.

The Heat fell to 0-3 against the Clippers at Staples Center since the formation of their “super team” in 2010, and the team has lost the last five against the Clips in L.A. overall.

Miami will head to Denver to take on the Nuggets on TNT Thursday evening, while the Clippers will host the Derrick Rose-less Chicago Bulls Saturday at Staples.
