Fantasy Football Week 12 Waivers

Colin Kaepernick – If you didn’t watch what many thought was going to be a Monday night game of pure defense like many of us you probably missed a very solid game from Kaepernick who seemed to open up the 49ers passing game. With Jim Harbaugh leaving the door open for Kaepernick to start next week versus the Saints, he becomes a solid add for this week to see how this plays out. He is currently available in 96% of leagues.

Chad Henne – Henne has always been the better choice at QB in Jacksonville, but its hard for a team to admit so early that their first round QB is not turning out to be the pick they hoped. However, when Gabbert went out of the game against the Texans, Henne came in and not only made the offense look functional but made current first round pick Justin Blackmon look exactly like what the team had drafted him to be. He should maintain the starting job and has some good looking match ups on schedule. He is currently available in 97% of leagues.

Ronnie Hillman – It’s bad news for McGahee owners, as he will miss 6-8 weeks with a torn MCL. Hillman should be the first in line to receive carries, but owners grabbing Hillman should probably also grab or at least keep an eye on Lance Ball who rotated in with Hillman as the team’s power runner as Hillman is a smaller speedy back. He is currently owned in 79% of leagues.

Bryce Brown – LeSean McCoy left this weekend’s game with a concussion and though he hasn’t been declared out yet, there is little chance he suits up with the NFL’s concussion protocols. Brown has a ton of talent and should be a serviceable replacement for however long McCoy may be out. He is a must own for McCoy owners and a savvy pick up for aggressive owners. He is currently available in 94% of leagues.

Beanie Wells – He is set to return this week, and though LaRod Stephens-Howling ran well stat-wise this last week, he is not the back that the Cardinals want to feature and outside of 2 long runs was terrible in the game. Wells should retake his feature role in the offense. He is currently available in 71% of leagues.

Jalen Parmele – With Rashad Jennings’ play being completely ineffective, the Jags turned to Parmele who received 27 total touches in the game. His yard totals leave something to be desired, but is set to be the feature back until MJD returns and has the Titans and Bills run defense in the next 2 games. He is worth grabbing if you need a back for a spot start this week. He is currently available in 91% of leagues.

Justin Blackmon – As I stated earlier, Chad Henne made Blackmon finally look like the 1st round value he was drafted to be this year. Blackmon nearly doubled his season total in yards with a 238 yard and 1 TD day. He has a game that could be very similar to Brandon Marshall who Henne played with last season, but before owners get to thinking Blackmon is going to start putting up Marshall like numbers, remember this was just one game and they are similar style players. Regardless, Blackmon should be picked up in all leagues as he could put up reliable numbers with Henne at the helm. He is currently available in 73% of leagues.

Cecil Shorts – Shorts has clearly been the more reliable wide out in Jacksonville this season and was not overlooked by Henne during the game as he had 81 yards and a TD. However, the Jags are likely to want to build on the great game from their top pick, so grabbing Shorts is a good idea in case Blackmon’s outburst is short-lived but he should remain a solid contributor regardless. He is currently available in 56% of leagues.

Danario Alexander – He has been on fire since the Chargers signed him off the streets and has become a favorite target for Philip Rivers. He has had 3 TDs in the 3 games he has been with the team and is worth grabbing and starting this week. He is currently available in 74% of leagues.

Marcedes Lewis – It’s strange to have so many Jags on the list this week, but with the numbers put up against a defense like the Texans it’s hard not to. Lewis was top 15 fantasy tight end before Blaine Gabbert and it feels like the entire offense has been set free. Lewis had 2 TDs on the day as Henne took advantage of his height. He is a great red zone target and should be grabbed if you are hurting from the lose of Gronkowski. He is currently available in 92% of leagues.
