Beltway Battle Won By Skins

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.  The Redskins beat the Ravens in overtime last night, but the story of the day was RG3 and his knee.  This guy will not slow down and has not learned the art of the QB slide.  Instead, in the final minute of the game RG3 ran and this time, his knee was the part of him taken out.  I couldn’t watch the replay and admit I still haven’t seen it.  RG3 only went off the field to avoid the injury timeout then came back on.  He threw a few, but clearly after the 4th play, he literally dropped to all fours in pain.  It was gut wrenching as a fan to watch your hope and heart being carried off the field.  This is the problem with putting so much pressure and responsibility and hope into one player that he thinks he’s unstoppable and will literally play until he falls down.

The fantastic news is that it’s not an ACL, there is no ligament damage and is just a sprain.  At 8 PM last night he tweeted “Your positive vibes and prayers worked people!!!!”

So how did the Skins end up winning without RG3?  His name is Kirk Cousins.  The Skins were down by 8 points and under a minute in the game.  Cousins throws to Garcon in the end zone for a TD.  They still need 2 points.  The call was a run and Cousins ran it in himself to tie the game.  The Ravens won the toss but the Redskins defense keeps them to a punt.  The Ravens kick off and Rookie CB (yes Cornerback) Richard Crawfard is the return guy and takes it back 64 yards.  At 3rd and 1 the Redskins don’t risk a loss because they have Kai Forbath and he easily gets the 34 yarder for the W.

The Redskins made NFL history last night recorded the MOST yards in the 1st quarter so far of any team with 189 yards.  It was also a battle of who can be penalized the most with both teams coming into the game tied for the most.  Who won that battle?  The Skins too taking 8-70 to the Ravens’ 8-56.  Not good.

My man London Fletcher intercepted a batted Flacco pass and Rob Jackson stripped one to cause a fumble.  Flacco only recorded 182 yards and Rice with 121.  The D stepped it up and then some.

All 4 NFC East teams won yesterday so the standings are the same:  Giants 8-5, Skins 7-6, Cowboys 7-6 and Eagles 4-9.  This is going to be one crazy playoff match in the next 3 weeks.
