Falcons look for redemption against Giants

It is “go time” for the Atlanta Falcons as they look to take on the reigning Super Bowl Champions, the New York Giants, at home on Sunday.
With the playoffs looming in the near future, the Falcons need a win tomorrow if they want to assure themselves a first round playoff bye. Despite locking in a NFC South spot and sitting as the NFC’s top team, Atlanta is coming off of a blow in week 14′s loss to the Panthers and come in looking to get back on the fast track to gain momentum before post season play begins.
Coming off of their shaky game last week, the 11-2 Falcons have surprisingly beaten just one team currently in playoff position (the Denver Broncos) this season.
This week, the Giants (8-5) look to continue their hot streak. Proving to be a threat, New York has successfully beat two division leaders and are coming off of a huge win over the New Orleans Saints. They are not a team that Atlanta can take lightly. In what is predicted to be a close game, the Giants have their own agenda and are looking to dismantle the Falcons this week since they hold a one-game lead in the NFC East.
Coming into Sunday, the Falcons defense is going to have to stop Victor Cruz. Cruz is having a remarkable season, coming off of back-to-back games of at least 100-yards receiving. He is also now over the 1,000-yard mark in consecutive seasons and has nine touchdowns on this season already.
However, in Atlanta’s favor is Roddy White. Although still questionable to play Sunday because of a nagging knee, the Falcons staff has found it hard to keep White on the bench when a win is on the line.
White ranks No.8 in the NFL with 1,140-yards. This is his sixth straight season of 1,000-yards receiving. It would be in Atlanta’s favor to start White, if he is cleared to play, especially against a Giants defense that has given up 20 touchdowns through the air over this year. But, if White can not go, the Falcons luckily have the next best weapon in a very powerful Julio Jones.
After being completely shut down until the second-half last week, look for Atlanta to come out with a vengeance and a chip on their shoulder to prove they deserve to hold that top seed in the playoffs.
Tomorrow’s game will kick-off live from the Georgia Dome at 1 p.m. on Fox.
