KC1 and the D Take the Win

It was announced Saturday night that RG3 would not be starting against the Browns.  This brought a smile to my face because it finally feels like we have our franchise QB.  They know that the future is more important than the potential for playoffs right now and took medical advice over a player’s want.  They started Kirk Cousins and after a little bit of a slow start, he became Captain Kirk and a total team win.

It appeared that they may have been a mistake to start Cousins after his pass was tipped then intercepted, which caused the Browns to take an early 7-0 lead, but he just needed some time.  RG3 was on the sidelines and was very much a part of this game assisting Cousins with advice and support. Cousins debut:  26/37 for 329 yards and 2 TDs.  Alfred Morris started out hitting the Browns’ Defense walls but still came up with 87 yards and 2 TDs himself.  Evan Royster got the 5th TD.

As for the defense?  Both London Fletcher and Rob Jackson intercepted Weeden’s passes.  That’s 4 for Fletcher this season and 3 for Jackson.  Kicker Kai Forbath is now 15 for 15 and is 1 more away from the league record.

The Redskins travel to Philadelphia next week to play the struggling Eagles.  They are now in 1st place in the NFC East, with a 3 way tie after the Giants were crushed by the Falcons and the Cowboys won in OT against the Steelers.  The Giants take on the Ravens next week and the Cowboys meet the increasingly better Saints, so the Skins could potentially be the solo 1st place NFC East team.  No one thought they had Playoff potential (I always did) and it was never thought they could actually win the division.  It is possible and  I believe.

Today is the last day to vote your favourite Redskins into the Pro Bowl.  If I don’t see RG3, Alfred Morris, Kai Forbath and London Fletcher, I will be very disappointed.  Click here [1] to vote!
