Here’s an overview of Sunday’s game against Denver.
Joe Flacco struggled Sunday afternoon, completing only half of his throws and one costly interception returned 98 yards for a touchdown. Ray Rice had only had 38 yards rushing on 12 attempts followed by Bernard Pierce with 20 yards on 5 carries. One bright spot in the offense today was Dennis Pitta, the 3rd year tight end out of Brigham Young University. He led the team in receiving with 7 receptions for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns, including a spectacular 61 yard touchdown.
The Ravens pass defense contained Peyton Manning well, holding Manning to only 204 yards and one touchdown. The running defense was a different story however. The Broncos tallied up 163 yards of rushing. First year linebacker Josh Bynes led the Ravens in tackles with 11 solo tackles and 2 assisted.
The Raven’s kickoff return and punt return phases have improved. Jacoby Jones broke a kickoff return for 50 yards and Tandon Doss had a 40 yard punt return for the Ravens. Big plays on special teams can be a huge momentum swing for teams, unfortunately that was not the case this week for the Ravens.
Maybe next week we’ll see ourselves with the “W” next to our names!
