Nine yards.  9.  Adrian Peterson came up 9 yards short of breaking the single season record for rushing yards.  Eric Dickerson can relax, at least for a year.  The Green Bay Packers can’t relax at all.  They get to face Peterson and the Vikings again this week.  Minnesota, behind AD’s 199 yards, beat the Pack 37-34 on Sunday, and by doing so earned their first playoff berth in three years.  The Metrodome was rocking on Sunday.

The Vikings and Packers have one of the most storied rivalries in the NFL, but they have only met in the playoffs once before.  Minnesota beat Green Bay in Lambeau back in 2004, as Daunte Culpepper and Randy Moss took down Brett Favre and Co.  If Minnesota wants to come out victorious again, they will need more of what we saw on Sunday.  Pressure on Aaron Rodgers, and plenty of carries by AD.  Peterson has run roughshod over the Pack this season, with over 400 yards in two games vs Green Bay.  I don’t expect to see the kind of scoring that happened yesterday, but the reality is that the Vikings actually have a team better suited to foul weather than the Packers.  Will that translate to a win?  The guys in Vegas don’t think so, as Green Bay opened as an 8-point favorite.

The Minnesota Vikings have made the playoffs with Christian Ponder as their quarterback.  Those are strange words.  Ponder actually played ok on Sunday and he will have to continue to play mistake free football if Minny wants to win in Wisconsin on Saturday night.  The Vikings have won four in a row and have surprised a lot of people in the process.  Adrian Peterson just capped off one of the greatest seasons in NFL history with a wild card berth and should win the MVP this year(sorry Peyton, the Broncos won a playoff game without you last year).  2012 has been a success for the guys in Purple.  Leslie Frazier and his guys will try to start the new year off right with a victory on Saturday night.
