The Detroit Pistons beat the Atlanta Hawks at the Palace of Auburn Hills Friday 85-84, extending their winning streak to four games.
Fourth-year forward Austin Daye gave the Pistons a big boost as he scored 20 points and pulled down six boards off the bench. Center Greg Monroe had a rough shooting night, but had 18 points and nine rebounds on the day. The Pistons starting five of Monroe, Knight, Singler, Prince and Maxiell struggled to make shots in general, making just 16 shots out of 46 attempts. Maxiell led the starters by making 66% of his shots on the day, scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Rodney Stuckey continues to improve in his 6th man role with a plus/minus of +19 on the day. He scored 10 points on five of 11 shooting. Will Bynum cools off after scoring 25 points and dishing out 10 assists a week ago as he only scored five points and dished out five assists. Andre Drummond continues to make the race for the starting power forward interesting with six points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
The Hawks were led by their two superstars: Josh Smith (20 points, two steals and two blocks) and Al Horford (18 points and 15 rebounds). The team also got a good game out of Lou Williams, who scored 17 points and eight dimes. Williams was just promoted from the team’s sixth man role to a starter and is thriving in his new role.
