Ravens Advance to the Next Round

What an exciting game the Ravens played on Saturday afternoon against the Denver Broncos. The Ravens shocked the non-believers, beating Denver 38-35- thanks to their rookie kicker, Justin Tucker in double overtime.
Here’s what we saw:
Joe Flacco had one of his best career playoff game performances. Flacco completed 18 of his 34 passes for 331 yards and 3 touchdowns. Torrey Smith caught two touchdowns and had 98 yards receiving. Jacoby Jones had a 70 yard touchdown reception. Ray Rice showed why he is one of the best running backs in the NFL. Rice ran for 131 yards and 1 touchdown, averaging over 4 yards a carry. A lot of credit goes to the offensive line for the phenomenal offensive performance by the Ravens. The O-Line only allowed 1 sack during the game, offering Flacco plenty of time to read the defense.
The Ravens defensive unit had a good game. They forced two interceptions, both snagged by Corey Graham. Captain and defensive leader Ray Lewis led the team with 17 total tackles. Terrell Suggs had a great game as well, accumulating 2 sacks and forcing Peyton Manning to get rid of the ball faster than normal. Pernell McPhee also sacked Manning.
It was an overall rough day for the special teams unit. Both the punt coverage and kickoff coverage were a big letdown, both allowing a Broncos touchdown. The Ravens will have to improve their special teams play if they have any dream of winning any more games. One bright spot in the special teams was Justin Tucker’s game winning, double overtime field goal.
The Ravens will head to Foxborough next Sunday to take on the Patriots at 6:30 ET. Yes, this is a repeat of last year’s AFC game, expect the Ravens to come out seeking revenge.
