The NBA All Star starters were named last week and for the most part the fans did a decent job of selecting the players who deserved to be there. It’s a flawed system so perfection can’t be expected.
While the fans may have let biases cloud their decisions on a few players who will start, the coaches will try to fill out each roster in democratic and deserving fashion.
Or at least so we hope.
In the meantime I offer my picks for the reserves on each roster without (too much) bias.

Jrue Holiday: 19.2ppg, 8.9ast, 4.1rebs, & 1.5stls |

Brandon Jennings: 18.6ppg,5.8ast,3.6rebs, & 2stls |
|
Paul George: 17.2ppg, 7.8rebs, 3.8ast, & 1.7stls |
|
Josh Smith: 16.3ppg, 8.2rebs, 3.8ast, & 2.2blks |
|
Tyson Chandler: 12.2ppg, 11rebs,1blk & 67% shooting |
|
Brook Lopez: 18.5ppg, 7.4rebs, 2.1blks, & 52% shooting |
|
Joakim Noah: 12.2ppg, 10.7rebs, 4ast, & 2.1blks |
|
Notable snubs: Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Monta Ellis, JR Smith, and Deron Williams |

Analysis: Holiday, George, and Chandler are no brainers as selections while the rest have a lot to do with their contributions to playoff contending teams. Irving might be worth of a selection over Jennings but with his team in the Central’s basement it just doesn’t feel right. |

Tim Duncan: 17.5ppg, 9.8rebs, 2.8ast, 2.7blks |
|
Zach Randolph: 16.2ppg, 11.6rebs, 1.3ast, .8stls |
|
David Lee: 19.6ppg, 10.8rebs, 3.7ast, & 52% shooting |
|
LaMarcus Aldridge:20.5ppg, 8.9rebs, 2.5ast, & 1.3blks |
|
Notable snubs: Marc Gasol, Greivis Vasquez, Serge Ibaka, Steph Curry, Al Jefferson, Andre Iguodala, Ty Lawson, and Jamal Crawford |

Analysis: The West is just more talented and deeper than the East. Westbrook and Harden seem to be the only no brainers. The Spurs and Warriors need representation and its possible only one player from each will make it but I still chose Parker and Duncan from San Antonio and opted for Lee over Curry on Golden State. Aldridge sneaks in over Jefferson and I flip flopped multiple times on that selection especially with Utah having the better record currently. The Nuggets are a top team but they are too team orientated to give one player the nod over another on their roster. |
