Likely destinations for NBA FA’s: Shooting Guards

We are two days away from the NBA’s version of the Hunger Games: free agency. Teams will be fighting to sign coveted players to add to their rosters. This year’s free agent class features some of the brightest players to take foot in the league and it doesn’t hurt to predict where they would be setting foot.

J.J. Redick

Redick started to blossom as a point producer in Orlando and then Milwaukee. He is one of the three Bucks guards coming off the books. There aren’t many teams looking for a player like Redick, but there’s one team that can use his services and that’s the Utah Jazz. There’s no telling how Alec Burks will shape and Redick is a more consistent scoring option. The Jazz can sign Redick and shift Gordon Hayward to small forward.

Destination: Utah Jazz  Traded to Los Angeles Clippers

Monta Ellis

Ellis is going to be looking for a hefty contract and there aren’t many teams that can afford and need him. Yes there’s talk about him going to Sacramento, but let’s not forget the Kings just drafted Ben McLemore. The most suitable location for Ellis is probably in Atlanta. This is the best available place out there for him to win and a place where he can be the leading man as well.

Destination: Atlanta Hawks

Gerald Henderson

He has been extended a qualifying offer by Charlotte and I don’t see Charlotte letting go of the value he holds.

Destination: Charlotte Bobcats

O.J Mayo

He wants to be the lead man and Dallas is not the place for that. The team that would need him the most is the Phoenix Suns. He will have a solid point guard to provide him in touches and enough big men to take attention off of him. He can start right away and put up points in big numbers

Destination: Phoenix Suns Mayo will sign with the Milwaukee Bucks

Manu Ginobili

Yea there’s no way he leaves the Spurs. I can see him sticking around San Antonio till he retires and the Spurs will make sure that happens.

Destination: San Antonio Spurs Ginobili has inked a new deal with the Spurs

Kevin Martin

Another marquee sixth man on the market, but the Thunder aren’t likely to dole out the big bucks for this guy. There’s one team with the money to do so though and that’s the Milwaukee Bucks, who need a replacement for Reddick and Ellis as they are on their way out.

Destination: Milwaukee Bucks Martin has signed a deal with the Minnesota T’Wolves

Tyreke Evans

Let’s be honest here, the Kings will overpay him to let him stay. Ideally he should be let go, but for now he is the face of the Kings and they will not let him walk away.

Destination: Sacramento Kings Evans has been traded to the New Orleans Pelicans

Tony Allen

The Grizzlies need Tony Allen and I’m sure they will dole out however much they can while still being able to keep Z-Bo and Marc Gasol. Expect him to stay in Memphis.

Destination: Memphis Grizzlies Allen is back with the Memphis Grizzlies
