Likely destinations for NBA FA’s: Power Forwards

We are one day away from the NBA’s version of the Hunger Games: free agency. Teams will be fighting to sign coveted players to add to their rosters. This year’s free agent class features some of the brightest players to take foot in the league and it doesn’t hurt to predict where they would be setting foot.

Carl Landry

The Warriors can afford only one key bench player and I assume it’s Jarrett Jack, not Landry. I’m sure Landry wants a change of scenery anyways. The board behemoth will probably be seeking a mid-level exception esque contract. The 76ers need some bench help at the big position (Lavoy Allen. really?) and will pay the money to get it. Expect him to take over the sixth man role and run with it.

Destination: Philadelphia 76ers Landry has signed with the Sacramento Kings

Andray Blatche

Having a knack for boards, Blatche was a key contributor for cheap for the Nets and I see him returning to Brooklyn in hopes of a championship. Did I mention the Net’s bench is incredibly thin all around? The Nets need him and Blatche needs the Nets.

Destination: Brooklyn Nets

DeJuan Blair

There were rumblings about a separation between Blair and the Spurs and I think it will happen. Blair has seen his role on the team decrease and he wants more. I can see the Boston Celtics offering him the mid-level exception and plugging him into the starting lineup while Kelly Olynyk takes time to develop his game. The Celtics are in need of his bruising style.

Destination: Boston Celtics

J.J Hickson

Hickson is on his way out of Portland as the two parties have basically agreed on a split. Hickson is probably looking to play for a contender. A team that can offer him the winning pedigree is the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks will probably land one marquee free agent and will have some leftover money afterwards. They can use this money to ink Hickson. His knack for crashing the glass will pair well with Al Horford in the frontcourt as he tries to fill the void left by Josh Smith.

Destination: Atlanta Hawks Hickson will sign a deal with the Denver Nuggets

Josh Smith

Now that I mentioned him, let’s talk about J-Smoove. He’s looking for a max contract and his options are limited. However, there’s one team that would be a glove fit for him and that’s the Houston Rockets. They have the need for a power forward and they have the money to pay for the contract. This one is basically a done deal.

Destination: Houston Rockets Josh Smith will sign a four year deal worth 56 million dollars with the Detroit Pistons

David West

The Pacers need West badly and they will be sure to pay what they can to retain his services. The money and the championship potential has got to intrigue West to stay.

Destination: Indiana Pacers West has resigned with the Indiana Pacers

Paul Millsap

A new era has begun in Utah and it involves Enes Kanter and Derrick Favors, not Millsap. He will look for a decently sized contract elsewhere. I can see Millsap teaming up with Anthony Davis in New Orleans. With Davis manning the middle, Millsap can be a high energy board crasher for this up and coming Pelicans team.

Destination: New Orleans Pelicans Millsap will join the Atlanta Hawks
