Geno Smith’s contract negotiations will not get in the way of him competing for the starting job. The second-round pick has inked a four-year deal worth about $5 million.
The rookie quarterback, who is represented by Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports, has been one of the most talked about New York Jets players this offseason. The Jets used a high draft pick to bring in Smith and he expects to have a chance of being the starting quarterback come Week 1.
With training camp scheduled to begin in Cortland, NY later this week the battle between Smith and Mark Sanchez is going to be closely watched. Competition tends to make players work harder, so the Jets now will wait to see who wants it more.
