As I sit at my desk this morning I can’t help but feel like a small child on Christmas Eve. So excited with a stomach full of butterflies I can’t believe that tonight is the night my wonderful Ravens will step onto the field again. Football has been back for almost a week now but it hasn’t quite hit me until now.
At 7:30 ET, Baltimore will take on Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium.
The main focus of this game is going to be for the team to find their new “flow”. With so many new rookies and veterans on the team they will have to learn how to work together, in the spotlight. A few rookie players to keep your eye on tonight would be linebacker Arthur Brown (#58), safety Mall Elam (#26), and defensive tackle Brandon Williams (#98). It will be interesting to see how much Brown gets to play, his competition definitely has the experience to push him out of the starting position- or even back up. How much time and how well he plays during his time given will be an important start to his career. Proving himself tonight could set him up for more time in the next few pre-season games.
There are many new veteran additions to the team, keep your eyes out tonight for previous New York Giants defensive line Chris Canty (#99), previous Dallas defensive tackle Marcus Spears (#96) and previous Denver offensive linebacker Elvis Dumervil. These players could help shape the way the team flows together- hopefully helping the team make an easy transition from the team they were last year to the team they are today.
This could be a tough game for the Ravens, after looking over the defensive and offensive comparisons it looks like the Buccaneers could give the World Champions a run for their money. Concentration and team effort will be key in tonight’s game.
