Dr. Jeckel/Mr. Hyde

This team today played two different games. They came out early and looked bad. Several turnovers by
the offense and missed tackles by the defense. The coaching staff did a good job adjusting through out the
game. I am not sure what was said at half-time but it really worked. You talk about playing down to your
level Texas did that in the first quarter and allowed New Mexico State to score first.

I thought the defensive line played a pretty good game. I notice less twist at the line of scrimmage which in
the past would just take them right out of the running play. They really helped the offense in the first half by
eliminating New Mexico State chances to put points on the score board as a results of early mistakes by the offense.
Diaz is gonna blitz but Saturday it didn't hurt the team. Still have a concern with miss tackles notice the players
breaking down to early rather than just going through the offenders.

Ash, stepped up after a slow start. Not sure what went wrong early in the game. Over threw receivers and failed to
look off defenders in the secondary. Maybe, he had to get use to new uptempo offensive. He threw for over 300 hundred
yards and rushed for over ninety yards couple of touchdowns and some early interceptions. Biggest concern was the running
game as a result of the new offense. But overall, had over three hundred yards rushing led by freshmen Overstreet. The
offensive line did a great job protecting Ash giving him enough time to spread the ball around. They also did a good
job opening holes for the backs. I like the fact that Mack got the ball to speedy receiver D. Johnson. Something they
should have done more of last year with Goodwin.

If Texas starts off like this against OU expect another blow out in the Red River shot out. If that happens the
Coaching staff should be relieve of their duties immediately. I Know that want happen and I am hard on this staff
but I am a true fan from the sixties. I like my longhorns as well I like the State of Texas. I wouldn't live anywhere
else in the US.

Being a Texan a growing up here we normally have two choices as far as college teams to become fans. Either the Longhorn's
or the Aggie's. I personally chose Texas because of Bevo but if I would have known as a kid that our family came form
Aggie country different story. I must say at this time the Aggie's are the better college team in Texas. They do a good job
recruiting the right players for their system. I personally think Coach Sumlin is the best Coach in Texas. Not a Cowboy
fan but if the Cowboyz would hire Sumlin and draft Johnny Money next I am back a fan.

The worse thing Mack Brown did was win the National Championship. He and the Longhorns have not be the same. And the main
probably was the lose of good coaches especially on Defense. Second, failed to recruit proper players for their system.
Hard task to do when coaches are leaving system keeps changing.

Texas needs a Coach in the mold of the Alabama coach Saban. He may have not been great in the Pro's but
a great college coach and has a chance to repeat three times for the NCAA if they can get by A&M.
