Thursday’s game in Denver was a rough night for the Superbowl Champions. The Broncos beat the Ravens with the final score of 27-49. Here is a recap of the Thursday Night Football game.
The Raven’s offense put up 393 net yards of total offense. Flacco completed 34 of his 62 passes for 362 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Torrey Smith led the receivers with 4 catches for 92 yards followed by Dallas Clark with 7 catches for 87 yards. Ray Rice had only 36 yards on twelve carries with one touchdown. Two notable injuries for the Ravens occurred on the offensive side of the ball. Jacoby Jones will be out for 4 weeks with a knee injury suffered on a punt return where his own teammate ran into him and Michael Oher also suffered an injury which led him to leave the game.
The Raven’s defense gave up a net total of 510 yards of offense. Payton Manning had a NFL record tying high of 7 touchdowns with his 462 yards of completed passes. Josh Bynes led the defense with 6 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles. The defense was able to sack Manning 3 times but were unfortunately unsuccessful in getting a turnover.
The special teams unit for the Ravens had some great moments and some moments they would like to bury and never bring up again. On a high point, Justin Tucker was a perfect 2/2 FG’s and made all of his PAT’s. The punt team also came up with a fumble when Wes Welker dropped a punt inside the 10 yard line. On the opposite end of the scale, the Raven’s had a punt blocked and lost Jacoby Jones for 4 weeks.
The Ravens will take on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium at 1 PM. Hopefully the Ravens will have a better showing in their second week of the 2013 Season.
