Being down by a run in the 8th, the Giants (66-80) managed to scrap a couple runs together and win the series finaleĀ 4-3 vs. the Rockies (67-80).

With one out and the bases loaded, Marco Scutaro hit an RBI single right to tie the game. The next batter, Brandon Belt then hit a single to left to grab the lead for San Francisco.

Scutaro would end up going 2-4 with a walk and a double while Belt was 1-3 with two walks.

Hunter Pence then grounded into a fielder’s choice followed by Pablo Sandoval striking out to end the inning. Sandoval did have a single earlier in the game which plated a run and got San Francisco on the scoreboard.

Santiago Casilla was then called out for the 9th inning and allowed just one hit to pinch hitter Troy Tulowitzki. The game would end on a failed bunt attempt by Charlie Blackmon.

The Giants had starter Yusmeiro Petit on the mound who was making his first start since his failed Perfect Game attempt last Friday. Petit wasn’t perfect this time going 5 2/3 innings allowing three earned on six hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Rockies’ third baseman Nolan Arenado was responsible for two of those runs. Arenado had two RBI singles, one in the 4th and one in the 6th, scoring in outfielder Corey Dickerson both times. The first one tied the game at 1-1 and the other gave Colorado the lead.

Two batters after Arenado’s RBI single in the 6th, former Giant Charlie Culberson hit an RBI single to give the Rockies a two-run lead.

Petit would leave the game after that being relieved by George Kontos to get the final out of the 6th. He allowed a single to Jonathan Herrera to left which prompted Nolan Arenado to try to score all the way from second. Arenado, however, would be tagged out at home.

Juan Nicasio was in line for the win for the Rockies until the 8th. Nicasio ended up going five innings allowing just the one run to Sandoval in the 3rd. Nicasio also allowed five hits and four walks while only getting one strikeout.

San Francisco would get one of those runs back in the 7th with a sac fly by Hunter Pence scoring in Juan Perez who walked to lead the inning off. The Giants would then score two in the 8th to eventually win the game.

Guillermo Moscoso (2-2) would get end up being the winning pitcher having pitched two shutout innings before being relieved by Casilla in the 9th.

Giants and Rockies ended up splitting the other two games in this series. Game one on Monday had the Giants winning via a walk off single in extras. Brandon Belt singled to deep left in the 10th scoring in Angel Pagan from 3rd to win it 3-2.

Game two had the Rockies winning 9-8 with Michael Cuddyer leading them to a win by hitting two home runs. His first was a three run shot in the 5th and the second was a solo homer in the 9th to break up a 8-8 tie.

The Giants now leave AT&T for their last road trip of the season, ten games. They first head to LA to take on the NL West Division leading Dodgers (85-60) in a four game series starting today. San Francisco’s probables are Matt Cain (8-9), Madison Bumgarner (11-9), Tim Lincecum (9-13), and Ryan Vogelsong (3-5). Los Angeles’ probables are Zack Greinke (14-3), Clayton Kershaw (14-8), Ricky Nolasco (13-9), and Edinson Volquez (9-11).
