Peyton Place

No Manning’s playing in this game between the Rebels and the Longhorn’s this weekend in Austin,TX.  This year for the Longhorns has become a reality show.  A not so good win against New Mexico State and a blow out last week against BYU.

To hear Mack Brown at the begin of the season would have thought this team was on its way back.  I must say it is early in the year and just one lost.  Again being a Texas fan I expected no loses at this time and a better team.

I thought the Longhorns started out good last week but ran out of gas.  This team can play great at times.  Early in the game Texas was leading BYU but once the Cougars took the lead their was no looking back.  Besides VY no other QB rushes for as many yards as  the Cougar QB.   He gained the majority of his yards at the line of scrimmage with big gaping holes and the inability of the Longhorns tackling in open field.

I hope the new defensive coordinator can help thing’s but I really don’t think so.   Their is no reason why a college player on defense at Texas shouldn’t be able to tackle.  I watched some of the attempts at tackling and they were diving at the ankles.  Why don’t they just wrap up around the waist and twist take down.

Well, anyway UT has its hands full this coming Saturday at home.  Offensive, Ole Miss has a good QB in BO Wallace, he can throw and run the ball fairly well.  He is a senior now and more mature.  He has a chance to rush for a great deal of yardage if Texas defense plays like last week.   They have a very talented and young receiving group.  Remember the name Laquon Treadwell a freshmen and one of the top in the country last year.  I also like Donte Moncrief, he is the eldest of this group and very good.  These receivers can catch the ball well and do a good job stretching the field.  The running game I think can be held in check I think their running back is to little, Jeff Scott.  I think the offensive line is good and does and good job protecting the Quarterback.

Defensively, Ole Miss is young but talented up front, backers and secondary. They are better than last year the new added added additions.  On the line I really like the freshmen DE, Denzel Nkemdiche big and good.  He will be moved all over the field.  Again young and has a lot to learn but a potential first rounder.   They have a very quick and discipline backers group.  They do a good job in the positive turnover area.

I really like this team.  They remind me of the Texas  teams from the good old days.  Young and talented.  Freeze had one of the best recruiting classes last year and it will show this year.  I expect the them to finish in the middle of the pack in the SEC.  They will get a bowl bid and with a few more good years of recruiting maybe in consideration for National Championship.

Texas has to many questions marks going into this game.  Not sure how well the defense will play.  Offensively not sure if Ash will start.  I know D. Johnson is out.   I expect Texas to lose by two touchdowns to a top 25 team in Ole Miss.
