Week 2: Ravens vs. Browns

The Ravens take on the Browns this afternoon at M&T Bank Stadium. Here’s a brief overview of what to look for from the Baltimore Ravens.

Flacco threw for just over 50% last week in Denver.  The Superbowl MVP had a disappointing week, look for Flacco to come out with a fire lit under him to show everyone why he deserved his new contract.  Watch for Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce to get more touches on the football.  The Ravens threw 62 times last week, a little more balance between the pass and run would benefit the Ravens and keep the Browns on their toes. With the birth of Flacco’s second son an hour before game time pay attention to Flacco, keeping his attention on the game might be a struggle this afternoon.

The Ravens radar will be on RB Trent Richardson who has a big play possibility,  he is a tough physical runner and is averaging 3.6 yards per carry.  The secondary matches up nicely with the receivers of the Browns; watch for them to contain Davone Bess and Jordan Cameron and for the Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumerville to pressure Weeden in the pocket.

Special Teams

Expect great special teams plays from the Ravens today as last week they weren’t so hot,  having a punt blocked in week one and a few sloppy plays on other units. The special teams unit needs to be solid in all four phases: kickoff, kickoff return, punt, and punt return.  They will be looking to prove that they are a better team than what they showed in week one.

Hopefully this afternoon’s game will be a fresh start for them after their rough game against the Broncos last week.
