The Ravens captured their first win of the season last Sunday against Cleveland at their home opener. Here’s a quick glimpse of how the game went.
The Ravens were able to get only 296 yards of total offense. Flacco had a decent outing with 211 yards passing and one touchdown while going 22 for 33. The offensive line did a great job protecting Flacco, as the Browns were unable to get a sack. Bernard Pierce led the rushing attack for the Ravens, filling in as the #1 back after Ray Rice left the game with an injured hip flexor. Pierce picked up 57 yards and a touchdown, and Rice added another 36 yards.
No touchdowns were allowed by the Raven’s Defense. Daryl Smith led the defense with 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks. Terrel Suggs, Arthur Jones, Elvis Dumerville, and Arthur Brown also added to the sack total. In all, the Ravens were able to sack Weeden a total of 5 times. The defense held the Browns to a total 256 yards of offense. Former Raven, Billy Cundiff scored the 6 points for the Browns.
With Jacoby Jones out, the Ravens signed WR Tandon Doss to return punts for them, and the 3rd year player delivered. He had three punt returns averaging 14 yards per return with a long of 22 yards. Justin Tucker had a rough outing, missing both of his field goal attempts from 50 and 44 yards.
The final score for the game was 14-6.
