Today’s game in Baltimore this afternoon is going to be an emotional one. With Ed Reed back in town and the half time tribute to Ray Lewis being indicted into the Ring of Honor, the Ravens team and fans will have mixed emotions today. Also, this will be Ed Reed’s first game back since his hip injury- what a bittersweet place to start his 2013 season at.
Here’s an overview of what to keep your eyes on today.
The receiving core for the Ravens has been faulty up to this point in the season. There needs to be more stability there for the team and the leaders need to step up at this position and get the job done. Along with that, the tight ends need to be a bigger factor in the receiving part of offense. Ray Rice is out with a hip injury so Bernard Pierce will get the start at running back. He has been very productive for the team thus far; watch for the young player to step up and have a big game.
The Texans have a high power offense so the defense needs to be on their a-game this afternoon. Watch for Terrell Suggs and Elvis Dumerville to put a lot of pressure on quarterback Matt Schaub, forcing him to throw to his check-down receivers. The defensive backs for the Ravens also have a big day covering Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins, the two most productive receivers for the Texans.
The special teams unit played well last week with the exception of Tucker missing 2 field goals. Watch for Tandon Doss to be a game changer at punt returner. He can put the offense in great field position with a few good moves on the field. Also, watch for Tucker to have a better game, he will need to be focused and determined to have a better week than he did against the Browns last week.
Happy Sunday everyone, enjoy your game day!
