Jets Let It Slip Away

This is one the New York Jets will want to forget.
They looked sloppy from start to finish as the Tennessee Titans took advantage of New York’s mistakes in the 38-13 rout.
It seems to always come down to who turns the ball over and that was the story of the day. Geno Smith looked lost and gave the ball away four times, two interceptions and two fumbles, which the Titans were able to turn into 28 points.
Those turnovers ruined any chance of the Jets’ offense finding a rhythm. Meanwhile, Titans’ quarterback Jake Locker was having a career day throwing three touchdowns before being knocked out of the game by Muhammad Wilkerson in the third quarter. He took a shot to his hip and was eventually taken to the hospital.
When Ryan Fitzpatrick replaced Locker the Jets couldn’t stop him either. In less than a half he gained over 100 yards in the air and threw a 77-yard touchdown to Nate Washington. That play summed up the Jets’ day. Cornerback Antonio Cromartie was covering Washington on the deep ball and as the receiver came down with it Cromartie was knocked down by the back judge allowing Washington to easily score.
New York was able to cut its penalties in half from a week ago, but 10 flags for 66 yards will still hurt a struggling team.
At 2-2 through the first quarter of the season things could definitely be worse. The Jets have plenty of room to grow and after suffering a loss like this the only thing they can do is move forward. On to the next one.
