Mack’s last stance

Posted By Don Greene On Oct 14 2013 @ 6:09 pm In Texas | No Comments

It is that time of year the Red River rivalry.   I am a die hard Longhorn fan and always will be.   Their was a time when I was a Sooner fan. That was back in the 70′s and 80′s.   I really enjoy watching the wishbone ran and back in those days OU ran it will.  The had Thomas Lott,David Overstreet,Billy Simms,Greg Pruitt and more.  I even liked Coach Barry S. nicknamed  Gambling Man.

Well, the wishbone rarely lives in College offenses due to the spread offense. And, I am no longer a Sooner fan.  Think, I dislike them more than any other team and it has a lot to do with beaten Texas in Brown’s years more than 50% percent.

I think in itself is enough to be fires as a Texas coach. There are probably many reason why Mack should leave. The main reason is he can not turn this nose dive around. These team is sinking faster than a punctured hot air balloon.

I don’t feel sorry for Mack, he was giving a chance three years ago plus a hefty raise to do the job.   And as a Texas fan he has failed.  I can not remember the last time I saw a Texas defense play so poorly.  I have never seen a Texas defense tackle so poorly.  I have said it all along defense wins games and Texas D hasn’t won many in the last two years.   No one on this team is playing the tough guy.  In that looker room their needs to be the player like Ray Lewis.  The person everyone is afraid of and when he barks they all listen and respond positively.

Face it, the talent is not like it used to be.   Based on the numbers flocking to the NFL compared to the A&M’s and Bama’s of the world.

OU has won the last three games in the Red River classic.  Averaging close to 500 offensively against UT in the cotton ball.  Hold over fifty percent 3rd down conversion.  Offensively Bell will start.  A very big QB that runs well and has a knack for the end zone.  He is all so a very good quarterback.  Personally Texas is gonna have a hard time stop this offensive.  They are gonna have to dominate the line of scrimmage, linebackers must fight off blocks and everyone needs to be sure tacklers.

With the poor defense play and question at QB for Texas.  I give OU two touchdowns to win the game.

Side note:RIP lil AP!
