Fantasy Football Week 8 Waivers

Mike James – There is a lot of pessimism mixed in with some optimism regarding the shoulder injury to Doug Martin. The bottom line for now is that Martin is out indefinitely and Mike James looks to the lead the backfield in Tampa. That being said he is a must add in all leagues. He projects to be a solid contributor in PPR and is likely to get goal line work. Just bare in mind that Tampa’s offense hasn’t exactly been pristine this season. He is currently available in 92% of leagues.

Jarrett Boykin – Last week he was available in 99% of leagues, and after this week that number will shrink even more. Boykin has slide into Randall Cobb’s role very well and Aaron Rodgers seems to be very comfortable looking his way. With Jermichael Finley going down this week, Boykin could become even more involved. He is a must add in PPR leagues. He is currently available in 70% of leagues.

Chris Ivory – Last Sunday’s aberration in touches for Ivory may be just that, because the Jets wanted to keep to the ground game to keep the Pats in check. Though Ivory topped 100 yards on the day, it did take 34 carries. All that being said, this will likely lead to an uptick in touches for Ivory, though he is likely to remain in a timeshare with Bilal Powell. He is worth a speculative add in most leagues. He is currently available in 72% of leagues.

Darrius Heyward-Bey – With Reggie Wayne done for the year with a torn ACL, Heyward-Bey will likely see a rise in targets along with T.Y. Hilton. DHB hasn’t really shown the talent to be a true number 1, but he has a top flight QB in Andrew Luck which should make him worth the risk. He is currently available in 80% of leagues.

Andre Brown – The Giants backfield is a mess and is riddled with injuries. Peyton Hillis is currently carrying the load, but Brown could be back around week 10 and could earn himself a number of touches quickly upon his return. Right now he is best added as a stash that could pay off if you have the roster room. He is currently available in 76% of leagues.

Roy Helu – After 3 TDs last week, Helu is likely in the spotlight in many leagues. He plays in a lot in the Redskins “turbo” offense, as it is called as he is a better passing option than Alfred Morris. Morris is still the “lead” back in Washington, but the Skins have a match up in Denver this week where they will likely be battling to keep up on the score board, leaving them in need of running the “turbo” package. This would make Helu a solid flex play for this week. He is currently available in 79% of leagues.

Jordan Reed – He looks to have cemented himself as RG3’s number 2 pass option, which is great for a TE. He had a breakout day against the Bears with a 9/134/1 line. If you are having TE problems is well worth an add. He is currently available in 75% of leagues

Coby Fleener – For pretty much the same reason DHB is recommended, so is Fleener. The Colts will need to try to fill the void that Wayne has left in the passing game and though he has been inconsistent this season, Fleener could see a rise in value pretty quick here. He is currently available in 54% of leagues.

Garrett Graham – With Case Keenum at QB, Graham was targeted 8 times. Rookie QBs frequently lean on their TEs and Graham could serve as Keenum’s security blanket if he gets the start after the BYE. He is a better ad in deeper formats. He is currently available in 61% of leagues.

Jake Locker – He was supposed to be out 4-6 weeks, but returned last week after being out for only 3 weeks. Kudos to Locker, who threw for 326 yards and 2 TDs. A good chunk did come in garbage time, but he has a great schedule following the BYE and did not seem to come out of the game any worse for the wear. He is currently available in 93% of leagues.

Others to watch: Peyton Hillis (87% of leagues), Jonathan Stewart (94% of leagues), Kendall Wright (71% of leagues), and Shane Vereen (66% of leagues).
