Fantasy Football Week 9 Waivers

Jake Locker – After making a return against the 49ers in week 7, Locker has had the BYE to get a little healthier after returning from a hip injury that cost him 3 weeks. He threw for 326 yards and 2 TDs, and though a good portion came in garbage time, Locker has looked very good and is primed to put up some solid stats with match ups against the Rams, Jaguars, Colts, Raiders and Broncos through week 14. He is a great BYE week add and could possibly be worth starting during the aforementioned stretch. He is currently available in 83% of leagues.

Marvin Jones – It’s hard to argue with a 4 TD day, but owners adding Jones should note that he has only played in 33% of snaps for the Bengals during his surge over the last 3 weeks according to rotoworld. Keeping that mind, grabbing him is still a solid idea, as Cincinnati can’t ignore the production he brings to their offense. He should earn more playing time, but until that’s happens he will remain a risky play. He is currently available in 75% of leagues.

Shane Vereen – After blowing up in week 1, only to break his wrist, Vereen is set to return in week 10 and should be grabbed around this time where available. He should return to a solid role in the rotation as the Patriots’ pass catching back. He is currently available in 61% of leagues.

Montee Ball – The Broncos gave a predetermined decrease in Knowshon Moreno’s role last week with the thought in mind that they want to preserve him for the playoffs after losing him last season. With Ronnie Hillman being ostracized, that left Montee Ball as the back to pick up the slack. Ball becomes a strong handcuff for Moreno owners and for leagues going until week 17 in the event that Moreno and other starters are benched. He is currently available in 62% of leagues.

Kenny Stills – After two solid weeks of production Stills is on the fantasy radar again. He is still best suited for deeper leagues, as his role in the offense is more the deep threat a la Robert Meachem which limits him to more of a boom or bust play each week. The question is, “Do you feel lucky?” He is currently available in 89% of leagues.

Jonathan Stewart – Like many other players Stewart is set for a return this week, and with DeAngelo Williams struggling with a quad injury, he is worth monitoring. Ever the injury risk, Stewart could hold value if Williams has to sit for any extended period, though he may have to split time with the yet to mention Mike Tolbert. He is currently available in 90% of leagues.

Mike Tolbert – Most fantasy leagues know what Tolbert can do when given the touches from his days in San Diego. That being said, with incumbent starter DeAngelo Williams’ availability for week 9 in question, he is worth a look in the event that Williams is sat down. Though Jonathan Stewart may be returning this week, he may be eased back into the line up, making Tolbert a stronger add for this week. He is currently available in 78% of leagues.

David Nelson – Nelson drew 12 targets last week and hauled in 8 of them for 80 yards. Anytime you have a wide out getting that kind of attention he should be monitored or possibly stashed. He is best targeted as a speculative add, but has some upside as long as Santonio Holmes remains out. He is currently available in 99% of leagues.

Andre Brown – Though Petyon Hillis is running well, Brown should be set to return after the Giants’ week 9 BYE and could return to a big role. He has more talent than Hillis and is likely to be the preferred option by the Giants. Like others, he may be eased back into action though. Another speculative add. He is currently available in 80% of leagues.

Nate Burleson – After suffering a broken arm in a car accident earlier in the year, Burleson is set to return around week 10. He is a trusted veteran and safety valve for Matt Stafford and should hold solid PPR value upon his return. He is currently available in 97% of leagues.

Others to watch: Terrelle Pryor (64% of leagues), Joel Dreesen (99% of leagues), Tim Wright (95% of leagues), Aaron Dobson (77% of leagues), and James Starks (90% of leagues).
