Ravens Look To Come Back Strong

Today is hopefully the start of a new leaf for the Baltimore Ravens. After their bye week they’re hopefully relaxed, refreshed and ready to play some good football. Coach Harbaugh has never lost a game after a bye week with his Ravens team so hopefully they will start a new winning streak this afternoon in Cleveland.

Watch out for Torrey Smith on the air attack against Cleveland.  The 3rd year player out of Maryland is a proven threat as well as the Raven’s #1 receiver.  His ability to stretch the field for the deep ball opens up shorter routes for the other receivers and makes it difficult on opponent’s secondary to cover.  Of course the roots of a good passing game start with the ground game in the trenches.  Look for the 0-line to be aggressive and open up lanes for Rice and Pierce.  If the Ravens can establish a solid run game, Flacco will find it easier to hit his receivers in the pass game.

For the defense, pressure is the key to the success.  The Browns running back is Willis McGahee, an 11th year veteran who some argue has lost a step.  The speed of the Raven’s defense should swallow up any run game of the Browns.  Pressuring the quarterback and forcing him to make quick throws on the run will be the key to the Raven’s victory.  Also making sure that tight end Cameron Jordan and wide receiver Josh Gordon are covered up by the Raven’s secondary will be a big factor.  Those two players have been very productive for the Browns.

One of the biggest assets this season for the Raven’s has been their punt and kick return teams.  These teams consistently play well and set up the offense with great field position.  Jacoby Jones and Tandon Doss have done an excellent job, watch for them to have another big week.

The Ravens have made a few roster changes since the last time they played; they have waived veterans Michael Huff (Safety) and Marcus Spears (Defensive End), traded Bryant McKinnie (Tackle) to the Miami Dolphins and signed free agent Bernard Scott (Running Back) and brought Omar Brown (Safety) and Brynden Trawick (Safety) from the practice squad to the 53 man roster.

Look for the Ravens to take flight this afternoon against the Browns, they play at 4:25 ET.
