Fantasy Football Week 12 Waivers

Bobby Rainey – It’s amazing that after being cut by 2 teams during his rookie season that Rainey would be given the workload that Greg Schiano and the Bucs gave him, but they did and he exploded. In fact Tampa put the rock in his hands 30 times for 163 yards and 2 TDs to go with a receiving TD as well. Even though he faced a porous Falcons D, he has legitimate RB2 ability and played as an every-down back. So much for Brian Leonard’s Rutgers connection. He is currently available in 74% of leagues
Montee Ball – No one is saying that the Broncos are going to hand the keys over to Ball, but they may look to start giving the ball to him on more goal line situations late in the year. The Broncos lost Willis McGahee last season late in the year, and they likely haven’t forgot that. It may incline them to ease up on the amount of tread they put on Knowshon Moreno as the season gets later. Ball also has a nose for the end zone, as he showed in college. He’s a better add in TD dependent leagues or as a handcuff right now. He is currently available in 64% of leagues.
Donald Brown – Good ol’ “Damn it Donald” has looked like the better back in Indy lately and though this has all the makings of a timeshare, Brown has the most upside with Richardson dragging his feet to the tune of 2.83 YPC. He is best added in deeper leagues, but would have huge upside if Richardson were to suffer an injury, which he has been prone to throughout his short NFL career. He is currently available in 73% of leagues.
Miles Austin – The Cowboys are expecting Austin to return after the BYE week and Terrance Williams has been less than stellar over the past few games. It’s very possible that Austin takes back his position right away and Williams moves back to his WR3 role. Austin is easily a WR2 if he takes back his role, but there is no word on whether or not that will be the case. He is worth a stash right now as a wait and see. He is currently available in 74% of leagues.
Rod Streater – The Raiders starting Matt McGloin showed a stark contrast to Terrelle Pryor in terms of running an NFL offense. While Pryors’ jets are a boon in some situation, making the correct reads and finding the open man makes a difference as well. Despite the football semantics, McGloin raised the stock of the Raiders wide outs, particularly Rod Streater’s. He is worth an add as long as McGloin is starting and if the injury to Denarius Moore holds him out, it could make Streater a strong plug and play for this week. He is currently available 92% of leagues.
Marques Goodwin – Goodwin burned Antonio Cromartie for 43 yard TD, and was looked to often by EJ Manuel. He is better added in deeper leagues with a week 12 BYE and uncertainty about the return of Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods. He is currently available in 98% of leagues.
Delanie Walker – With Jake Locker out for the rest of the season, Walker’s value is on the rise. Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn’t tote the deep ball like Locker, and looks to more of the intermediate routes. Such was the case last Thursday against the Colts where Walker went for a 10/91/1 line. If you’re in need of a TE you could do worse. He is currently available in 79% of leagues.
Toby Gerhart – It’s a lost season for the Vikings at 2-8, and the face of their franchise is running on pride and determination. Peterson admitted to being slowed by a groin injury and owners should look to lock up Gerhart in the event that he aggravates the injury further. All signs point to Peterson playing, but you don’t want to be that owner with the high waiver pick if Peterson goes down. Gerhart has proven to be a strong filler when Peterson has had to sit out. He is currently available in 99% of leagues.
John Carlson – He remains a strong add for those in need of a TE, and with the carousel at the QB position in Minnesota, the TE could see his share of check downs. He is currently available in 90% of leagues.
Josh McCown – Reports of ligament damage in Jay Cutler’s ankle likely have him out for the next 2-3 weeks making McCown a serviceable replacement for the next few games. He is a good add for match up based purposes and the fact that the Bears will continue to throw the ball plenty on offense. He is currently available in 84% of leagues.
Others to watch: LeVon Brazill (99% of leagues), Bryce Brown (82% of leagues), Aldrick Robinson (99% of leagues), Rishard Matthews (78% of leagues), Michael Crabtree (72% of leagues).
