This Thanksgiving weekend the New York Jets have something to be thankful for. They should be thankful they still have a chance to make the playoffs.
After losing their last two games, Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins is a must-win. Miami, along with the Jets, has a 5-6 record and also has a chance at an AFC wildcard spot.
The Dolphins have been as inconsistent as the Jets this season. Second year quarterback Ryan Tannehill has shown signs of growth, but he still has plenty to work on.
Coming off a crushing loss to the Carolina Panthers last week Miami will look to rebound against their division rival at MetLife Stadium.
Head coach Rex Ryan will try to get his Jets’ offense back on track this week. The Dolphins’ defense is no cake walk and can easily force New York to make mistakes if they’re not careful. The Jets have to be smart with the ball and protect Geno Smith from Miami’s ferocious defensive line, led by All-Pro Cameron Wake.
New York needs to get off to a fast start. The team is 4-1 at the Meadowlands and if they can get the crowd into it that emotion will translate onto the field.
Final Score: New York 20 Miami 17
