Toby Gerhart – It’s hard to measure the effect on teams that lost Rob Gronkowski and Adrian Peterson during the first week of the fantasy playoffs or describe the frustration in words. Suffice to say, we feel for you guys. Those of you who lost AP, I hope you had enough foresight to handcuff Gerhart. Where available Gerhart should be the top pick up this week, as long as his hamstring tweak doesn’t keep him out. He gets a strong match up against the Eagles this week and could be the starter for the rest of the season if the Vikings are smart and hold out their franchise player until next season, as they are out of contention this season. He is currently available in 92% of leagues.
Cordarrelle Patterson – The Vikings finally began to really feature Patterson and he blew up for 141 yards and a TD. The production mostly came late in the game, and owners who want to start him will be flying by the seat of their pants this week. However, Patterson is the future of the Vikings offense and owners in keeper league and dynasty formats should have him locked up. He is currently available in 74% of leagues.
Jordan Todman – While MJD said last week after Thursday’s game that he would be fine after suffering a pulled hamstring, there is doubt about whether or not it’s all smoke and mirrors. Owners would be wise to stash Todman until game day if they have a roster spot available. If MJD can’t go Todman would be a worthwhile start against the Bills. He is currently available in 98% of leagues.
Daniel Thomas – Apparently, Thomas’ ankle injury was somewhat embellished and he was not only able to return this week, but put up a 100 yard effort with a TD after Lamar Miller suffered a concussion. If Miller is out this next week, Thomas becomes a strong play against a bottom dwelling Patriots run defense. He is currently available in 89% of leagues.
James Starks – Eddie Lacy was yet another RB to go down in week 14, after reportedly rolling his ankle Lacy did not return to the game. While the Packers were likely just playing it safe with their rookie work hoarse, there is a chance he doesn’t suit up this week. Owners should hand cuff Starks immediately who could have a strong game against a unstable Dallas defense. He is currently available in 88% of leagues.
Josh McCown – McCown has thrown for 8 TDs in the last 3 games, and while he played against rickety defenses like Dallas, Minnesota, and St. Louis, he’s still putting up gaudy numbers. Though Jay Culter may be ready to return as soon as this week, McCown is worth owning in a wait and see mode, especially in 2 QB leagues. The Bears may have a hard time benching McCown while he is red hot. He is currently available in 56% of leagues.
Da’Rick Rogers – He blew up for 107 yards and a TD last Sunday and speculation is that the Colts will continue to utilize the young WR. Keeper league owners take note. Rogers is worth stashing and owners in deeper leagues should grab him and if you’re willing to roll the dice he could be worth a start against an unsettled Texans team. He is currently available in 98% of leagues.
Dennis Pitta – Owners who suffered the lose of Gronk this week could look to Dennis Pitta who finally returned with a 6/48/1 line. Joe Flacco has rapport with Pitta and owners could do worse while sifting through waivers. He is currently available in 89% of leagues.
Jacob Tamme – It seems that Jacob Tamme took over the role of slot receiver after Wes Welker suffered a concussion last week. Welker is almost certain to miss this Thursday’s game on a short week and if Tamme takes over the slot role he will be a strong play in PPR leagues. He is currently available in 95% of leagues.
Delanie Walker – He is finally set to return this week against a Cardinals defense that has had trouble with TEs. He is another player for Gronk owners to look at as many owners probably dropped him after missing week 14. He was sustaining solid middle of the road value before going down in week 13. He is currently available in 68% of leagues.
Others to watch: Jason Campbell (94% of leagues), Marcel Reece (88% of leagues), Shonn Grene (88% of leagues), Rod Streater (81% of leagues), and Nate Burleson (63% of leagues).
