When it comes down to it the Vikings offense has talent bulging at the seams and if #4 should decide to return for another season, they should have no problem putting up big numbers again.

Adrian Peterson is the workhorse that this offense needs to rely on. The only question is did Peterson learn from his mistakes last January in the NFC Championship game, and will he be able to hold onto the football and limit his fumbles. Peterson looks to have a solid backup in Heisman Trophy candidate Toby Gerhart, who will most likely get 5-10 touches a game. While Peterson is good enough to find his own holes in the defensive Naufahu Tahi will be the man at fullback again this year creating those lanes for the running backs to do their job.

The receiving corp that this team puts on the field is very scary and should have no problem making big plays all season long. Sidney Rice who burst onto the scene last year with 1,300 receiving yards will be looking to duplicate his output and prove 09′was not a fluke. The speedy and versatile NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year Percy Harvin will hope to stay healthy all season and contribute the same type of numbers if not better from his slot position. Than the forgotten man of the bunch due to breakout seasons by Rice and Harvin is Bernard Berrian who prior to last season nearly reached 1,000 yards receiving in 08′. The last and tallest weapon this team has is tight end Visanthe Shiancoe who is coming off statistically his best season as a pro.

Your offensive line consists of the same guys who were getting flack at the end of last season for not being able to protect the quarterback. If this team wants to win this year it will require Bryant McKinnie, Steve Hutchinson, John Sullivan, Anthony Herrera and Phil Loadholt to all step up their games and perform at a pro bowl caliber.

I thought I could get through an entire article without mentioning his name but this team needs Brett Farve to return for one last year if the Vikings have any chance at playing in the Super Bowl. This team is pedal to the metal when Farve is under center and his experience and leadership allows this offensive to move the ball up and down the field at will. If #4 decides his ankle will not cooperate and allow him to play season #20 than the starting quarterback job will come down to a mini camp battle between Tavaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels.

In past seasons Chicago has struggled to beat the teams they were suppose to.  That is why a 6-1 home stand against the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics was not only important in keeping their slim lead in the American League Central, but it also got the so called preverbial monkey off their backs.

The week was highlighted by Gavin Floyd continuing his recent pitching dominance. The righty went 2-0 allowing only 1 earned run in 14 innings pitched. Floyd also was so brilliant Sunday in the finale against Oakland that he carried a perfect game into the top of the 6th inning.

The offense was simply on fire scoring a total of 44 runs in the 6 games. Paul Konerko and Alexei Ramirez were the two main reasons in which the Sox scored so many runs this week. Konerko homered 4 straight games in a row to start the week off in the Seattle Series and finished up with the 4 homers and 5 RBI’s.  Alexei smashed a total of 2 home runs and also total 5 RBI’s.

The White Sox will look to continue this amazing run they have been on since June as they will hit the road for the week and begin a tough series up at Comerica Park against central rival Detroit. Chicago is 3-1 against the Tigers this season and will start the 4 game series Tuesday with a scheduled double header. Mark Buehrle is scheduled to take the mound in the early game while rookie Carlos Torres will make the jump from AAA for the nightcap.
