Enough With The Hype
Posted on 8 Sep 2010 by Dan Ames.
Okay, okay, okay. We get it. The Packers look good. According to the plethora of NFL analysts, they've never looked better. The first team offense has destroyed its opponents like nobody's business. The defense has held strong. Here comes the hype. Of about ten noted football analysts, six or more of them predicted Aaron Rodgers to be the league's MVP. Whoa, whoa, whoa. I happen to thin...

Green Bay Packers Turn To Yoga…?
Posted on 30 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
Word on the cheese-filled streets of Green Bay is that the Packers have now added Yoga to their fitness and training arsenal. Yes, you heard that right, yoga. Yoga. As in the stuff women in spandex do. Okay, you probably sense that I'm about to go into a little bit of a mocking fit here and I know what you're going to say. “But yoga creates flexibility.” “Yoga is a g...

Beluga Whale Spotted off Wisconsin Coast
Posted on 22 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
Right now, there's a bunch of guys sitting out in their Lund Mr. Pike fishing boats, flipping perch and bluegill into their livewells. Well, that's just fine. Me, I'm trolling for the wily and elusive Bulaga Whale. That's right, I'm talking about Iowa OT Bryan Bulaga. All 6'6″ and 315 pounds of him. Rumors have been flying about Packers GM Ted Thompson trying to move up in the d...

Padres make it back to .500
Posted on 19 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
Padres fans knew the drought was coming. After their 17-2 shellacking of the Atlanta Barves, the Padres bats fell nearly silent as they dropped two straight to the Braves. They stayed home at Petco Park, however, and proceeded to pull the hat trick – beating the Arizona Diamondbacks three games in a row. Chase Headley made it clear that he wasn't going to allow the post 17-run dry spe...

Wow, thanks for the Wranglers, Brett!
Posted on 15 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
I really had no intention on my first post as the Green Bay Packer blogger to discuss Brett Favre. In fact, I was looking forward to being one of the few Packer fans who rarely, if ever, talked about him. But then came the Wranglers. Seems ol' Number Four rewarded his teammates in Minnesota with a complimentary pair of Wrangler jeans. Not Porsches, like Barry Sanders gave his offensive lineme...

Opening Day, Opening A Can Of Wupass
Posted on 13 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
It was a bit of karma. The record for most runs scored at Petco Park had been 15 back in 2008, a feat accomplished by…the Atlanta Braves. So when Opening Day came to Petco Park, the San Diego Padres decided it was time to refurbish a somewhat tarnished opening to the 2010 season. Their record of 2-4 was not the way the team wanted to start off. Sure, the Diamondbacks are a good team...

Padres Turn The Tables
Posted on 7 Apr 2010 by Dan Ames.
After a disappointing 6-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Opening Day, the Padres managed to do the mirror reverse trick and beat the Diamondbacks 6-3. Pitcher Chris Young threw a stellar game, allowing only one hit in six innings. It was his first start since shoulder surgery last year. Young must have looked all of his six feet and ten inches as the Diamondbacks seemed intimidated by the power ...
